:russ::mjlol::francis: this was me up until (2015-2019) I got my A+,Net+ last year and my Sec+ this year. Currently studying for my CCNA and RHCSA certification by the end of the year. Fear and self doubt had me frozen. I learn you have ignore that voice that tells you to quit, give up, you aint gone make it anyway on top of the other noise you hear everyday. In other words "Get Out of Your Own Way".:manny:
Congrats my G

At least when you finally got it you came with a vengeance and got the trifecta.

I know you were like, you aint really doing shyt at your new gig, but what type of scripting they be having you doing. Basically, what do the scripts accomplish? Tried to DM, but seems you got that disabled or something.

Dont know to be honest,

Before I got the gig the job description mentioned Powershell was a desirable skill to have. And I didnt have powershell listed as one of my skills nor do I have a great deal of experience using it day to day.

I know how to use powershell on a basic level and created a few scripts just playing around, but i'm not fluent with it

I got my job despite the limited knowledge with PS, mostly on the strength of my VDI/ VMware and Azure AD Background so this will be a learning experience for me ,

I'm actually dedicating the rest of the year to sharpening my Bash and powershell Scripting and working on building my vSphere and Horizon labs. Not chasing any more certs til the new year.

Im looking to leave my job, but just lacking effort in doing the job move

Any other breh just in a complete rut? I just dont feel like doing anything atm even though I know my job is very stagnant & I should be looking elsewhere (which I am but not fully 100% devoted to the job search grind)

I promised I was going to get 2 certs by this time last year but am not even close

There's no catch all skill set

some cloud roles require Azure, containerization, Linux and Python skills
while others require AWS, Powershell VDI/VMware, Citrix experience

and it doesnt have to be exactly thoses stacks either.

The money is there either way you slice it. It all boils down to preference

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The tech industry needs help and a local company that trains workers in that field is teaming up with the city of Charlotte to train people for free.

The program is thanks to the CARES act, the idea takes someone who may have the talent, just not the training for the tech field and hopefully helps them land a job.

AWS re/Start
AWS re/Start is a full-time, classroom-based skills development and training program that prepares individuals for careers in the cloud and connects them to potential employers. A technology background is not required to apply. The program is focused on unemployed or underemployed individuals, including military veterans, their families, and young people.

After the bullshyt just happened at my job this is the exact video I needed. It’s my fault though cause I’ve been wasting time on nonsense when I should have left this place 3-4 years ago.

One of the ways to push yourself is to just set a date and book the exam.

Procrastination is something I battle sometimes too, but thinking of the end results pushes me even further.

We're not here forever, so the one thing that motivates me more than anything is the fear of looking back with regrets when it's too late and wishing I had done more to achieve my goals when I had the time. I'd rather look back and be happy and satisfied that I achieved everything I set my mind to before I expire. That goes for anything in life.

When you first got your A+ and a help desk job to start off with, did you need a college degree as well or can you get hired for help desk without a degree?

Don’t need a degree for helpdesk

but for the first position, you’ll have to go through the mud

free or cheap work and get the experience

then you get more certs while you work

it’s all a hustle

@ryda518 thanks appreciate it. Does helpdesk pay enough for you to get your own apartment? I still live with my mother. I am working towards getting in the airforce but if for whatever reason I can't get in the air force I want to go the IT route and start out with helpdesk and go from there.

depends on where you live

just go on indeed and check out the helpdesk jobs there

makos my brother was a marine and did IT while there and they supplied everything for him, see if the air force has somewhat of the same thing perhaps
