He specifically said that if black people aren't portrayed as saints then somehow we'd have a problem with the characters but come on there's a longggg way between a dope dealing shooter and average everyday black people like wtf

I've been black for 22 years and never shot someone at point blank range or sold dope wtf

what does that have to do with anything I posted?

I didn't say being criminal is a a part of blackness. But apparently that's what YOU believe. fukk off with your weak comprehension skills.

I'm saying doing unsaintly things is not automatically stereotypical and inhuman.

And everyday people aren't exempt from personal and external conflicts and questionable actions.

Real life is not full of perfect people and perfect ideals. Atlanta portrays that.

Atlanta has an all-black writing staff.

If you can't see what they're trying to do you might be a bit challenged.

They don't get how revolutionary a show like Atlanta is for Black people. :banderas:

A mentally stable one...

None of the shows that have the "corporate Black woman needing a man" trope in it make good mates...

Haha naw man there are many corporate sistas that are stable and many married or in relationships. However that ain't gonna make hit tv for this generation that likes drama and bull shyt fake reality TV.

But...Atlanta is about Black men trying to come up...

Insecure is literally about Black men ain't shyt...like in 20 mins we got a full dose of Black men ain't shyt...and the source of Black woman's problems.

A bytch really broke down and cried cause a nikka married an Asian woman and nikkas won't marry her.

Issa was really staying down with a nikka that can't hold a damn job interview and looks like he is in 20s and been out of work for a long time. nikka on the couch everyday. We didn't even see this nikka go outside.

Issa complaining about doing nothing but staying on the couch and looking at her nikka like, "I want more in life..."

Then she about to get her back blown out by her ex and nikka like, "Chill...I don't want you like that..." Issa looking like somebody killed her puppy.

Atlanta isn't even about Black women, doesn't concern itself with Black women...

Insecure is Lip Stick Alley propaganda.

Trying to come up by selling drugs and rapping about selling drugs. Not exactly a divergence from the usual black male trope in media. I see nothing redeeming about any of the characters, including Earn who's a Princeton dropout seemingly content with his station until he discovered he could piggyback off his cousin. nikkas own parents won't even let him in the house. :dahell:.

His playboy homeboy about all his hoes he takes to a cheap spot, while one of said hoes was in the same car.

His cousin who almost catches a body off of a fukking side mirror.

That philosophizing knucklehead sidekick who might as well be Jazz from FP with a gun.

So yes, Atlanta aint about a regular black dude trying to stay legal, navigate the racist corporate world, and find some non-bougie black chick to settle down with (I'd probably watch that show). But I don't see how y'all are oblivious to the correlation between these two shows.

Stop taking everything at face value.

All you did was spell out the synopsis of the show.

No shyt, that's what the writers intended to write.

There is plenty of good black webseries on youtube. I mostly watch the hood webseries cuz there is alot of them. But the drama ones are good as well.

Black feminism is a "my daddy wasn't around" "I was molested" "I got drunk and sucked/fukked a bunch of dikks" support group

:scust:

And I'm not making light of molestation but that shyt fukks a woman head up..

The show wasn't THAT bad.

Can see were OP is coming from but they added in some self responsibility so this thread is exaggerated

To be clear: I never said the show was bad, it's just not for me, plus I accurately described the black men portrayed in the show :yeshrug:

This is a black female created show. You guys are the ones complaining about it, not me. I just think its ridiculous you've chosen to hold up Atlanta as the better show when complaining about the showing black male stereotypes.

Earlier in the thread you even had people talking about Issa Rae being one of those black people who fits in well with white people and likes white activities when that is literally Donald Glover's whole schtick. Its what he raps about, its his standup routine. Its just okay to you guys and becomes a "layered" experience when the voice behind the story is a black male.
I see you callin nikkas out on their bullshyt:lolbron:

Watched it last night...:manny: don't see where the propaganda is...I chuckled a bit and it felt like Awkward Black Girl but with better production quality...

We'll see as the series progresses but ep. 1 isn't flagrant as folks in here are making it out to be...

The difference is that a Black man is the story teller on Atlanta so his narrative is automatically more valid than a Black woman telling the exact same story.

Imagine the restaurant scene from Atlanta playing out in Issa Rae's show, a Black male ducking out of the room to call his cousin who just witnessed a Black male shoot another Black male running into the woods, to put $20 on his card. Mother fukkers would be in here LOSING THEIR MINDS.
Lol, the gymnastics being played to make this point :mjlol:

So one show can be nuanced, but the show created by a male featuring men can't be nuanced?
