Also y’all realize Isiah is putting himself down and his era with these statements :skip:

An old player can’t give props to the new generation or talk about the obvious evolution of the game without it having to be some conspiracy against Michael.

Isiah knows talent dude could draft his ass off as an executive trust his eye.

MJ was a legit 6'6 with a 6'11 wingspan, 42+ inch vert, and ran a 4.3 40. Point me to a single guard today with similar let alone better measurements all in one...
Andrew Wiggins, Zion Williamson, Hamidou Diallo, Zach LaVine, Jaylen Brown, Derrick Jones all approximate or surpass him in these measurements off top...

It feels like every team has a guy with 40 inches of bounce that can run.

Zeke’s point is also not that there’s 10 guys exactly built like MJ but there’s some amazing 10-11 guys with eye popping athleticism or unique athleticism.

Giannis and KD these two guys don’t have the highest vertical leap but they have fluidity and explosiveness at 7-feet that is rare and it’s game breaking. It was nothing like that in the 80’s.

if we have to level the playing field then we gotta take away alllllll the sports science the current players have remember MJ started the whole personal trainer wave....so take away all that shyt....all the optimized meal plans......technology and special shots they are injected with to stop the pain....let's also take away "load management" and make every player play 95% of each season regardless fo nagging injury....

also hard fouls wouldn't be automatic techs, hand checks are in and fighting won't get you suspended and fined like today.....

you don't even have to take that angle

you can ask what if zeke magic bird the.doc kareem all the old goats played in their prime during mj's run¿

they'd cancel each other out trade l's & play hot.potato with the larry.o.b

That's the elephant in the room. Bulls didn't beat any of the big teams in their primes. They had no true nemesis.Timing is funny like that.

“Jordan was the only one with that athleticism then. Now 11 or more players have that athleticism”

“Lebron and Durant would’ve looked mutants if they played then”

MJ wasn’t even the only athletic player back then. Most athletic maybe, but there were some athletes back then too (Nique, Charles, Drexler to name a few). I remember Kenny Smith said it best that he was not only the most athletic, but the most fundamentally sound on both sides of the ball combined with that athleticism.

Isiah Thomas: With today's rules, Pistons would have won more titles

Without hesitation, Thomas said, "I think it's safe to say I would probably would have won two or three more championships. Because the rules favor the small guy. When I played, all the rules favored the bigger players, the offenses were designed for the big players around the basket, the way the officials officiated the game ... favoring the bigger players. And the bigger players and wing players are what the game was advertising. Now, it's about the point guards, it's about the small players, all the rules favor the small players. And all the marketing and advertising are around the small players."
