I think superstar, franchise player, and all star are thee different categories that people seem to get lumped under superstar.
The only superstars are Bron, Kobe (healthy), and would say KD could be put in that category.
Franchise players are guys like Blake, CP3, Melo, D12, Westbrook, Steph
All star are guys like Jefferson, Cousins, B. Lopez, Noah

By the way….this is what happens when you give value to the opinion of a career munchkin troll likely still needing to be under suicide watch.

Can't stand Isiah Thomas, he's a hoe of the highest caliber.

correct answer, right here.

He still needed an NBA title to validate his legacy.

:wtf:

dr j was validated , as a ballplayer back in college, breh.
he did not need the aba to validate his play.
he was validated from actual play, as early as college.
it had nuffin to do with what league he was in.
anyway, your

Which brings me to another point. NBA titles are something we judge great players on when they retire. Being a "superstar" player is all about how that player is marketed to the general public. Iverson never won a title but he was still a superstar because his name rang out with casual fans and people in other countries. He was a celebrity. Barkley never won a title but he was still a superstar. David Robinson was named to the 50 greatest list before Tim Duncan got there. Being the best player on a championship team doesn't make you a superstar. The Lakers and Celtics own just about half of the NBA titles. Isaiah Thomas is just talking a bunch of fukkery. he played during an era when there was no free agency like it is today and when players went to school for 4 years. Its different era's.

the rest of your rant was fine.

Superstars are transcendent players. Steph Curry and Westbrook are becoming that. CP3/KD/LeBron/Wade/Kobe/Melo are Superstars. D Rose was a superstar but injuries fukked him over. Blake Griffin -- hate him or love him -- is one.

i think a superstar is a player who is capable of winning a regular season MVP.

Blake Griffin finished 3rd in MVP voting and Noah finished 4th. sorry but neighter are superstars.

I define a superstar as a player who can lead his team to the title as a #1 option. That would include someone like Barkley and not Horry. IMO there are only 4 superstars in the NBA right now (Kobe, LeBron, Durant, and Melo). Dirk, Wade, and Duncan are former superstars. Thats it. No other superstars in the NBA for the last 15 years.

on what planet are those guys transcendent. they're just good players. stars even. but not superstars. to me a superstar is a player capable of being the #1 option on a championship team. there is no way Curry, Westbrook, Griffin, or CP3 can be the best player on a championship team.

there are only 7 superstars in the NBA. Kobe, LeBron, KD, Wade, Melo, Dirk, and Duncan.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
So Stockton, Barkley and Malone weren't superstars? ABA Dr J wasn't a superstar? Mind you Dr J didn't win his first title until he was past his prime years.

A superstar transcends basketball. Allen Iverson was a super star. people who didn't watch basketball knew who he was.

At the end of the day a "star" player can't win without a team surrounding him. So all of these former NBA players that complained about Lebron going to Miami need to shut the fukk up. A championship team is comprised of more than one player. You need the great owner GM and coach. You have expansion and now a salary cap which makes it harder for teams to build. Making a championship part of the criteria to be considered a super star is dumb.
they were mad that bron WENT to miami... notice nobody ever shytting on wade for it..

in their eyes, you're the star right?? you get the stars to come play with you.. you don't pack up and leave YOUR team to join another team. Wade was hopping on tables talking bout "this is my house" and now you coming to his house to play with him and his team

it'd be like jordan leaving the bulls to go play with rodman. no nikka you better than rodman.. rodman needs to come to you. yea wade won a ring first, but no one in their right mind thought wade was better than bron. bron should have said you come to me... or fukk off nikka... cause there was zero threat of wade beating bron in the playoffs at that time anyway..

then you use your star power to say to other stars, y'all come to ME... like when malone went to the lakers... kobe and shaq ain't leave to go to utah.. and malone got the same hate.. old trying to join up and win a ring ass nikka.. people was HAPPY when they lost that year

just look at the word SUPER star

what's superhuman strength.. lifting 500 lbs.. fukk no... 1500 pounds

supersonic speeds

superman

su·per
[soo-per]

2.
an article of a superior quality, grade, size, etc.
6.
of the highest degree, power, etc.

there can't be 15-20-30-40 nikkas who are all superior and of the highest degree

it's supposed to be a short list.. not, oh he's a great player.... well then that's what he is... GREAT

nah you gotta be SUPERMAN out there... just above and beyond everyone else on the court, to the point people are like :mindblown: :blessed: everytime you step on the court

if you can't even lead your team, a team with 2-3 other STARS on it, to a damn conference final... nah nikka i don't wanna see anything talking about you being a super anything

if you got a 15 year career and can't even win 1 ring, then no.. i'm not putting you up there

now people throw in AI.. is it cause his style and the media and press and endorsements.... or are nikkas saying his GAMEPLAY was so above and beyond everyone else at the time that he's a superstar

y'all gotta ignore the star part when talking about this... zeke wasn't talking about no damn popularity or commercials or who knows your name in europe.. he was talking about is your play super compared to everyone else you're playing.. and if you can't even lead your team to a ring... then it must not be as great as you believe it to be

that's bullshyt though because the Heat were basically built from scratch. Besides Wade and Haslem nobody else was there. It's not like Howard going to Houston or Paul going to L.A. Lebron went to a team that was rebuilt.
