This... people really seem to think shyt would suddenly get better if the company just gets sold off but :usure: The man might make some bad booking decisions but it's bigger than that. If by chance, WWE gets sold to whoever the highest bidder is, the highest bidder is likely gonna be a company with no personal connection to it and likely far less dedicated to it. But folks wanna put Vince in hospice over Aleister Black :scust:

I'm pretty sure most people are looking forward to HHH running it, not Disney. :hhh:

I haven't heard anybody saying they hope Disney or NBC owns it.

People are already talking about how the Peacock sucks.

Most people think some combination of Shane, Stephanie, and Hunter would do a semi decent job:ehh:

As breh said earlier, Vince is Al Davis.

Look at how bad The Raiders got in the end of his life. :francis:

No. Its in a down period. Right now they have no star that appeals to the young kids. No Cena, Rock, Hogan, Austin. On the same flip they have no Flairs who keep the purists hooked either. Give it some time. Wresting on a whole, not just the E will turn around and bounce back. They just need that one or 2 guys who rally appeal to the younger generation.

why do yall keep trying to force cena in there with rock/hogan/austin??
the cena chit is one of the reasons why business went down in the 1st place.

the purists aint go nowhere. they good. its really just the WWE marks that are in panic mode.

Whether you like it or not, nobody has been bigger then Cena for the last 15 to almost 20 years. The closest was probably Punk or DB. Hate him, or love him, he took that spot and kept it.

Which is why I doubt it gets sold off... I'd be surprised if it happens and I don't even know why there's people who think that's gonna happen. He's way more likely to pass it down to his children than put it in someone else's hands that doesn't have shyt to do with the business. People always say he's an egomaniac nshyt... yet they think an egomaniac would give something he considers "his creation" to people who had nothing to do with it.

True, but tell me who carries the WWE during that time instead and what effect does it have on the business?

Yeah... obviously he's not the Vince of many years ago but I think people seem to forget, he's always had a mix of great and bad ideas... that really hasn't changed. He's the same guy that debuted The Undertaker and the Gobbeldy Gooker on the same night, gave us Mr. Perfect and Red Rooster in the same year, booked some epic shyt in the Attitude Era but also thought Mae Young giving birth to a hand was hilarious... so it's not like we're just now seein him do bad shyt on tv. It's just the elevated level of criticism that exists now, the same criticism that's gonna come when he's not in charge anymore and it's someone else... people have complained about NXT lately and that's supposedly HHH's baby... so people are still gonna be mad at WWE in 10-20 years :manny:

But when is the last time he gave us an Undertaker?

Or anything remotely like the "Attitude Era?"

That's why I think the Al Davis comparison is apt.

Al Davis was a football genius in the '60s & '70s, but going into the '80s, '90s, and '00s, he just became an albatross around the neck of The Raiders and turned them into a clown franchise

Look how long it took him to turn Roman what . . 5 years too late?

He never turned Cena and it ran off a whole generation of fans or made them bitter and unwilling to accept Roman Reigns.

And people are turning on NXT because Vince ruined it by changing what it fundamentally was.

It was supposed to be like a college atmosphere down in NXT where you got to see developing talent on their way to the main roster.

Now, they've changed it and made it a 3rd brand to compete with AEW on Wednesdays and stripped it of it's college feel and they're signing all these veterans who don't even really fit in and now you have NXT lifers like Tommaso Ciampa who won't get out of the way and go up to the main roster..

But it's understandable that guys don't wanna move up because we've already seen Vince screw up sure things on the main roster from NXT, like he's doing Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest now.

you mean nobody had the machine behind them like cena.
and they have absolutely nothing to show for his run. basically the dark ages of the WWE.

punk & DB were bigger than cena and saved the product. they'll never get their credit for it tho because theyre not WWE guys. part of the reason why punk took his ball & went home.

and i dont hate or love cena. i have nothing against him personally but LOL.

nobody carried the WWE during this time.

its been all about the logo & die-hard fans of the logo for the past 18 or so years. no wrestler has carried anything over there in the past couple decades homie. closest thing would be punk & DB.

john cena never carried anything. outside of his cool merch for the kids, he chased more viewers away rather than bringing viewers in

NXT didnt pop off until they started signing veterans & established stars, basically raiding ROH, TNA, etc.

the REAL reason that its not as poppin now is because theyre not getting the pick-of-the-litter of free agents like they used to, due to the emergence of AEW.

theyre mostly getting the 2nd-tier of free agents now, as opposed to the days where you would get a nakamura, samoa joe, etc

This is a lot to answer, lol... but my point wasn't to compare The Undertaker or the Attitude Era, it was to say that WWE, as it stands in 2021, still gives us both good and bad things. A lot of people would only prefer to focus on the bad, but that's another story. What I am saying is, most agree that Smackdown is a well-run show that is usually more hit than miss... Raw these days has been more miss than hit. Still, the same person is making the final decision on the both of these shows, which has been the case forever... which means just like we got Undertaker AND Gobbeldy Gooker, we get this dope Roman/Uso storyline AND this boring ass Rhea/Charlotte stuff... because even in his best days, he was still givin us good shyt and some awful shyt that he thought was also good. So for me, I don't always get why it gets treated like the end of the world every time there's a shytty show or a dumb ass match or gimmick, or these hokey ass skits and shyt. This ain't some brand new senile Vince losin his mind, 40 year old Vince woulda done the same goofy shyt!

The pre pandemic crowds at AEW proved it to be otherwise. They'll be back shortly

WWE hype and interest is trending there tho. The 60 plus crowd loyal to the WWE ain't living forever

Cena was the last wrestler that non-wrestling fans cared/knew about(Lesnar too, probably more so but that’s about it)

DB and Punk were no where the popularity of Cena.
