Do you think artists are out here getting the same cuts for shows as they get for their albums or what?
Venue (incl security) and transportation are the major costs, then you give the artist his cut say 40%, pay for the various minor shyts and the rest is profit.

Someone like Deadmau5 gets 100k to play at night clubs in the french Riviera and that's in Euros.

So yeah on a good night 500k doesn't sound so dumb on a good night, if you sell 15k tickets at 50 bucks a ticket that's 750k again give the 40% and you get 300k. Sell 10k at 100 bucks, a million bucks, 40% 400k.

Unlike a cd where you need to pay for all the promotion, features, samples, radio slots, personal, magazines, payola and all types of costs involved with launching a CD a tour is a lot simpler. And the expected costs (excluding the rappers fee) relative to the expected revenue is a lot smaller, if there is good information about how big crowd the artist attracts.
