He has the heart, he just does not have the skill. Winslow will be a Philly Andre Iguodala type player. Not sure it was 4 1st rounders, it was closer to 1 Brooklyn pick and 1 Celtic pick.
All the reports said that they were willing to offer up to 4 first rounders for him. Even if it wasnt the BK pick. We still owed CLE and TOR 1 1st rounder each and had just handed PHX another 2 1st rounders. We we sloppy with giving away the picks. We could have cleaned up that mess in one shot AND give Wade, Bosh and Dragic some young help to keep them fresh for future years.
I know it's hindsight but we got greedy on this one and got burned bad
As for Winslow i never knew anything about the kid so while i was baffled at us passing on the picks i figured let's give it a chance and he must be that good if the Celtics were willing to give up that much for him. Never did it occur to me to wonder why someone who was projected to go 4th fell on our lap at 10 after being passed on by the teams THAT DID WORK HIM OUT.
First thing i noticed in Summer League was that for someone who's 6'6/6'7 he's surely not a leaper and plays below the rim. Then the second thing i noticed was that he wasnt a shooter which is fine because neither was Wade. But young/rookie wing players usually have 1 of 2 things going for them: Either they could jump out the gym or they can shoot.
Winslow had neither. But the beatwriters kept on hyping up his playmaking skills and maturity for a 19 y/o. So i was like okay let's give it a chance.
