Even when I’ve attempted to ask what women offer, they either get upset or can barely formulate a sentence.

As for the provider part, it’s a buzzword now. From the convo I’ve had with a single mother, don’t be a bum. If you can’t take care of yourself, you never be able to help us when needed.
