brainwashed is a bit extreme more like mental manipulation. no offense to marines, but the ones i know and met tend to be not that smart and simple minded and love to prove how tough or bad ass they are. The military is just taking advantage of people with that type of personality by having a branch that they let everyone know is one of the baddest and hardest to complete cause they know it would attract those types as flies who are more than glad to be part of it. it's kinda when you were kids and there was always this one kid that always wanted to show and prove how bad ass and tough he was that you would manipulate into doing things you didn't want to do by making it seem like only a bad ass could do it and giving him praise as a badass for doing it.

As for the thread's question though, from what my dad told me when he served in the marines which was back in the 70s is that they break you down to rebuild you into what they want. He said after he got out there he wanted to kill somebody because they really.. really fukk with you . Its not like it was back then but nonetheless it had to have retained some of its training tactics and what not.

Well, not really brainwashed. More like reconditioning the mind. There's a reason they have an age limit for the Marine Corps. It's 26. Anyone older than 26 is determined to be non-brainwashable.... I mean, it is more difficult to recondition their thinking to operate effectively in combat situations.

Hmm, interesting....I actually thought about joining, but I missed the age cutoff...I always wondered why that was a factor, being that the Army and Navy's is like 30-something....

That part someone posted about Marines not being that smart and easily influenced is not always true. I know a few former/current Marines who I wouldn't consider dumbasses....

Yeah, that's definitely a not true. I can remember some of the smartest people I met were in the Marines. Their engineering school is respected.

SBN Exclusive: Ole Miss Marine Explains Outburst At Marquise Goodwin - Burnt Orange Nation

As he ran toward me, I could see him start to make the 'shhhhh' motion holding his hand up. I knew behind me was the Texas fan section, and he was staring straight ahead. So I'm thinking, well, I know he’s not 'shhhh-ing' his own people.

It was hey, don’t hush me, because Marines, well ... we don’t like to be hushed.

:manny:
