can't remember who, but someone said "you'll never see a sexy woman be funny. they never had to compensate their bad looks with jokes to be cool. they could be dumb as rocks, boring as hell, and dudes will still fall all over them. most female comedians are ugly and fat cause those are the ones who had to hone their skills to be accepted"

:mjgrin:This applies to men as well. I can't think of any sexy male comedians. But I think Aisha Tyler nullifies this logic. Her stand up wasn't hilarious, but it wasn't cringe worthy. She had some good jokes.

I love stand-up comedy and have been collecting it for over twenty years now. I think there's a lot of sexism in the comedy industry. A lot of women can't even get on a bill to get a chance to tell jokes and when they do, they have to deal with the whole "what's appropriate" for a female to be joking about. Guys get so weird about women joking about dikks and sex. Like women should be chaste and never cuss. This standard is never applied to men. It just highlights how limited the parameters are for what women are "supposed" to talk about in regular life. Like we're not people or something. Anytime I hear a guy talking about Adele being too vulgar, I wonder if they have the same thoughts about male comedians who joke about fukking or just use the word fukking a lot. There are plenty of funny women out there. I do think a lot of female comedy is related to being a woman, and if you can't laugh at yourself or put yourself in their shoes you won't get a lot of it. But maybe it's not for you anyway. My favorites are Wanda Sykes, Sommore, Adele, and Monique.

the first part is a little off

eddie murphy was hounded by broads... i'm not gonna go down a list of men, but black male comedians... i don't know what a woman finds sexy, but as a man, i don't go "damn this nikka ugly as fukk" like i would amy schumer.. all these nikkas can't be ugly nikkas to y'all... for my sake :mjcry:

now i'm not the type to say no women are funny... but it still holds true about the looks thing... wanda, monique, sheryl underwood, hayes, leslie jones and adele ain't sexy at all, although they are funny.. Sommore breaks this theory though cause goddamn :takedat: Haddish to me is cute.. She not really drop dead gorgeous, but then i've never seen her standup so I don't know

even white females.... schumer, tina fey, roseanne, ellen, chelsea..... washed... and still unfunny

asian.. margaret cho... middle eastern.... Mindy whoever...... washed

I FULLY understand the plight of women in the workforce. I bet it's 150 times worse in hollywood circles.. I can only imagine what it is for a black woman :sadcam:

but the theory wasn't based on women just being unfunny for no reason... it's based on women who look that damn good, don't need to develop the skill of telling jokes, cause they have no need to be funny to attract men.. they can be hot and unfunny and we still gonna laugh it up like they prime chris rock... so in a sense, they don't even know whats funny cause they never failed at trying it

See, I don't look at Amy and think she's ugly af. I think she's pudgy and plain. But aside from Eddie Murphy, the list of men in comedy are just as unattractive to me as all of the women you listed. Like if I saw Chris Rock walking up the street or Kevin Hart, I wouldn't look twice, and I might even go "awww" if I saw someone like Kevin Hart because he's kinda adorable in a Jerry's Kids sort of way. But I think your point about being hot and having to develop skills to entertain is fair, across the board.

You know this also might lead to the other theory. That every comic is miserable inside. It’s looking like hardships in life or looks, is the secret to saying “man I better be funny to make up for that”
