Every damn time. Like @obarth said, when he's in a field where he is clearly the best choice he'll get it but he's always competed in years when he's not going to win. He's competed in years when the winner has been a lock since November. It's not his fault just the luck of the draw.
And he didn't get snubbed for Django, the studio chose to submit Christoph as opposed to Leo knowing if they did both of them, they'd cancel each other out so they went with Hans Landa

Shoot didn't Helen hunt and Jack win oscars for as good as it gets? No reason he couldn't have won something for Jerry mcguire (yeah he didn't stretch himself but when has that award strictly been about the performance)

OR he could be nominated for an Oscar the year Daniel day Lewis doesn't do Lincoln. Or the year forest Whitaker doesn't do Idi Amin. Or the year Jamie doesn't do Ray. It's like you cats are acting as if these others guys who've won over him didn't put in brilliant work the years they won. Doesn't mean his work wasn't brilliant but sometimes someone is better

He did a few oscar me type dramas in the late 90s but he's been all action since pretty much. When it didn't happen after the late 80s and some of the 90s he prolly said fukk it
I think he's resigned to the fact that he's going to get his accolades and get his money and he's good with that. Dudes made enough money in his career and he seems like he just enjoys the craft and wants to have fun. He'll try original sci fi like edge of tomorrow but then go right back to the franchise he loves. Speaking of which I'm still blown that we gotta wait till the end of July for the new mission impossible

dude look at what this thread is about, I mentioned cruise in reply and your rebuttal was you don't win oscars for doing action.....right.... which is what he's "only" done since 08 not his career. Then I go on to highlight Oscar laden movies or performances he's had and you stay on the arguement of action movies and roll out some more?
Its like you are having a debate with yourself and just want to get "that point" across despite the direction of the discussion. The fuk are you mentioning action movies for when I am talking about the movies he did where he could or should have won for

also killed in catch me if you can which is super underrated for him.I think his best acting role was in the aviator perseonally. I loved that movie.
he was great in magnolia..and that's why he got nominated... but other than that and eyes wide shut and JM..his filmography is mainly action films for the past 2 decades.
yet @Roman Brady wants to keep mentioning 2008 as if that was the first time he did one.
yea he's done serious roles in the past and may have gotten academy and golden globe noms but he didnt win..so that ship seems sailed..especially cuz he seems being more comfortable in the action role at this point in his career. plus when stars get older they seem to venture more towards action for some reason..word to liam neeson and denzel
yet someone like leo who stays in the drama lane it seems more feasible he may still win one in the future.
