WB and Gunn announcing that they were rebooting the universe took the steam out of the releasing DC movies.
Theres a Supe movie coming out in 2025. Wonder what angle they gonna take.

DC blew it with superman though. They should of made a dark version of superman like in the comics. At bareminimum, they should of released a superman solo movie during all the comic movie craze...instead they drop suicide squad :heh:

WB executives wanting to copy the MCU is what happened. Before that we were getting that with Superman. Man of Steel 2 definitely would've been coming out after Justice League pt 2.

My Predictions

Marvel
  • Deadpool 3 - Will make some money, but will it be the blockbuster? I dunno.
  • Echo - She was cool in Hawkeye - but if this is there attempt to do a Reservation Dogs...I dunno. I don't think this will do well. Kingpin is a fan favorite, I don't know if the casuals really feel for him
  • Daredevil - already scrapped the first iteration - I like the character, but he's not for the casuals. And it's the casuals that make the profits. Not people who want Foggy Nelson to come back (smh at those folks)
  • Ironheart - from what I hear extensive reshoots. Does Marvel care about the Young Black Female Audience? Especially since they heavily supported Shuri. /Sarcasm. They might have to put it out just so they don't get BatGirl'd. Honestly I wasn't the biggest fan of the comic tbh, and she was annoying in BP2.
  • Agatha - Shot, and they're wondering how they're gonna promote - especially since all the fun/comedy series have not done well. This was a bad idea from the start.
  • Captain Falcon - Does anyone like Anthony Mackie? I can't think of anything he's done that I liked. MBJ has some stinkers, but he's got some hits imo. don't forsee this ever coming out, not one second of film.
  • Thunderbolts - thin ice. Blonde White Widow and Hailee Seinfeld are cool, Ms Marvel really acts like the infantilized and sheltered Pakistani girl, but this was always gonna be a hard sell.
  • Blade - never. Ali will leave the project, if he hasn't already.
  • Fantastic Four - I don't see it happening. They want it to happen, but FF B-list. The trailer will have to be dope. Now if it is Krasinski and Emily Blunt - SHE might have enough Star Power with the nerds thanks to that time travel movie she did. Will she attract the Barbie audience, hell 2 d naw.
  • Avengers Kang - dead in the water. Even if J. Majors didn't get into what he got into, Ant Man 3 was not the business.
  • Avengers Secret Wars - in jeopardy because of J.Majors
  • Armor Wars - after the horror that was Secret Invasion... Poor Cheadle. But that said he keeps trying to do comedy...
  • Shang Chi 2 - Asians don't support Asians, period. This movie was pretty good, imo, up until the end. But Tony Leung is Michelle Yeoh level of dope. And they played his character. Simu wants to work, can't blame him, but the Hot Pot boys didn't want to back Andrew Yang in NYC, can't see them really queuing up for this. There should be more anime, manga, kung fu, wuxia stuff based on the # of weebs out there, but there isn't. Nerd culture was cool, but it's losing it's cache to "the long tail". There's just too much out there.
  • Wakanda/Okoye series - she sort of plays Drax - a literal/doesn't get references type of character. Shuri played the wise cracking bratty little sister. It will be hard for writers to do more with those characters. This was a bad idea.
  • Nova - Yeah right. The space aspect of Marvel, that Jack Kirby ish, is always gonna be a hard sell imo. GOTG was a fluke/vision of a talented film maker.
  • Wonder Man - never happening.
  • Spider Man (Live Action) - Prints money
  • Spider Man (Miles Morales) - will print money.
  • Spider Verse Movies - FOH
  • Marvel Zombies - FOH.
  • Star Lord - FOH
  • X-Men - I wonder if Giancarlo Esposito still wants to be Professor X...but I'm betting they move X-Men up the batting order REAL QUICK.
DC
  • Joker 2 - The Musical - I"m gonna be there on the 1st weekend, but I think a lot of people are rightfully weirded out by this movie.
  • Superman under James Gunn - The nerds will get what they want, but it's 50/50 on whether it's a hit. "The" Suicide Squad was a surprise hit to me. Supe will be decided by the trailer.
  • The rest of the DC Universe - depends on Superman imo.

I expect video games to be the next wave, with The Last of Us doing so well. Even if Halo was horrible.

LOTR/Game of Thrones opened the door for fantasy stuff, but it's all been mid. LOTR on Amazon, Wheel of Time... Dungeons and Dragons was good for what it was, but it wasn't a "tent pole" type of movie.

Science Fiction is dead, for now, even if The Creator was a great visual feast.

West where the Sunsets
Because its irrelevant to todays standards. Blame DC for not dropping superman content the last 5 years when superhero movies were hot.

We dunno what impact superman will hold in today’s world.

Superman is a big enough name who can bring in an audience. That’s the entire point of what I’m saying since you guys mentioned names that are big enough to bring in good money.

Even the crappy version of BvS almost hit a billie. :heh:

Superman man of steele (the last solo superman movie) was the 9th highest ranking movie that year. Not a flop but nothing block buster worthy. (think it gross 600 mil in theatres)

BvS was a hit because people bought into the whole hero vs hero angle)great premise, shytty execution). Movie sucked fukking ass and i think thats what hurt DC until Dark Knight crush the buildings.

but again, all these movies were released 7+ years ago. I think superman will do numbers but if the script is trash, it wont help DC in the long run.

Superman is DC's wild card so they should really focus on it to get back in the game.

DC needs to flip the script on some game of thrones shyt at this point though. They cant drop a Supe movie and have some little known villain or some gay ass love angle.

Dark superman would be dope. Having Joker being a neutral factor to take down a bigger threat in the next batman would be dope.

Whoever the fukk is writting for DC needs to be replaced though. Their storylines are mid as fukk and these suppose to be comic books movies....

Yes.

The new wave will be video games.
Halo, gears, Zelda, god of war…

We a living history right now. 100 years from now the characters and stories from comic books and video games will be iconic.

Mario and Sonic print money, transcends all demos, casuals and nerds. Cheap to make as well...

Studio hated Henry Cavil, hence no Superman 2...

I think a boulders gate series would be dope, they could do it like the league of legends Netflix show or it could be a lighthearted “adult cartoon” they could probably even do a serious game of thrones vibe and it could work. There is money in this series.

Also I think the fallout show could be huge and if Netflix was smart they would do a season two of LOL and cyberpunk

Modern games with developed story lines are probably the first up to be adapted.

But are they really going to put the time and attention into it like TLOU?

Hollywood is all into the spectacle, but it's all about a good story.
