It is a racist field as I have been in it for quite some time, started at the bottom answering phones and such to now leading a team (building servers, switch implementation, pbx, etc) and run a small business outside of technology. My experience is that Cacs always will doubt and second guess your work and try to steal your ideas.
Essentially I am just using the income from work as capital for my business venture and not be reliant on Cac banks to help me out.
For those getting in the field, you learn on the job, 2-3 years in, you can move on to a new company normally.
Your interviewer will be a Cac who hasn't shaved or bathed in 8 years, looking like Tom Cruise in Castaway grilling you about obscure SQL and Java statements.
I am an educated, intellectual, fit, confident, and strong Black male, which frightens the piss out of most IT Departments/Firms and made the interview process more difficult during my career. I can't tell you how many times Susie-Cac HR gave me the look of disbelief when she saw me in person. One time I was asked (in a professional 3-piece suit mind you)..."You are here for the facilities position right?"
But I still fight for success anyway...
