Real Talk this set me up for success. My pops bought the house a computer in like 1998 or 97, literally nobody in the house used this but me, I was in 3rd grade and pretty much taught myself how to troubleshoot desktops, printers, fix virus issues etc. Literally in middle school I knew exactly what I wanted to go to college for and I did it, graduated on time with honors and now work in IT while pursuing my masters. That said my father was an educated man, and him doing that set me years ahead of all of my peers because by the time they got computers in the early 2000s they were more focused on black planet and stuff, but naturally I had a skill for troubleshooting and problem solving.

One thing I will say is STEM is one of those areas that you cant force someone to get into as it takes a certain mind set. Most of these Asian brehs and brehettes you see in STEM fields had insanely strict parents who were on some if you dont do this you are a disgrace to your family steeze, culturally black people dont do act like this outside of maybe Nigerians. I`m not saying this is a good or bad thing, because at the end of the day you have to do what fulfills you in life but we also have to draw the line in doing stuff that wastes time and does not benefit our communities.
Cacs have created a world where you have to be smart and deadly. That's the only way to raise your child. Prepared for everything

I think it's just reflective of the racism in our society:

1 The cac 'founders' generally can't get along with anyone, combination of shytty nerd social skills and a God complex. They are really only working with:
- Their boys who went to school w them. So that's demographics on Engineering and CS programs, generally at these universities that are focused on these programs e.g. Harvey Mudd, Stanford, Rice, etc.
- People they are taking advantage of.
- People the investors force them to hire.

2 Then it's the fact that most of these 'founders' are only making as much money as their last round of seed funding. And they are usually getting the first few rounds off of their parents and parents friends.

Edit: they're >> their
Underrated comment...a lot of these Autistic weirdo fukks are SUPER racist. They try to apply their binary thinking to social lives and end up thinking other races are just inferior or some shyt

same nikkas complaining about white companies not hiring blacks, are the same nikkas jumping for joy when dudes like Jay-z or Russel simmons comes up with an company and then sell it to a white investor for a fraction of the profits it will bring in over the years. If you want a job quit praising sellouts and assimilation.

It is a racist field as I have been in it for quite some time, started at the bottom answering phones and such to now leading a team (building servers, switch implementation, pbx, etc) and run a small business outside of technology. My experience is that Cacs always will doubt and second guess your work and try to steal your ideas.

Essentially I am just using the income from work as capital for my business venture and not be reliant on Cac banks to help me out.

For those getting in the field, you learn on the job, 2-3 years in, you can move on to a new company normally.

Your interviewer will be a Cac who hasn't shaved or bathed in 8 years, looking like Tom Cruise in Castaway grilling you about obscure SQL and Java statements.

I am an educated, intellectual, fit, confident, and strong Black male, which frightens the piss out of most IT Departments/Firms and made the interview process more difficult during my career. I can't tell you how many times Susie-Cac HR gave me the look of disbelief when she saw me in person. One time I was asked (in a professional 3-piece suit mind you)..."You are here for the facilities position right?"
:dwillhuh:

But I still fight for success anyway...

THis is why you are one of my favorite posters.

I just aspired to go after what I wanted in life now...fukk begging da white man for a job...they get off on not hiring us and throwing our applications in the trash.

Why do I want to work for someone who hates me?
Why do I want to work for anybody besides myself?

I'm already starting to get the last laugh honestly...

that drive. :wow:

Breh, a lot of these just refuse to go out and be self determined. nikkas will make all types of excuses to not work for themselves. A black couple created the blog BlackandMarriedWithKids.com | The Web’s Most Popular Destination for Guidance on African American Marriage and Parenting, they're making multiple seven figures a year off of that site. Another black man owns Wet Shave Club. He's doing six figures a month in revenue.

There's a million and one ways to make paper on the internet with relatively little investment, but the shyt just ain't priority for most cats.
that's why I hate reading nikkas talking about everything requires some huge initial capital investment to get anything started. The way they internet is setup now, the barrier to entry is so damn low these days. A domain name and a wordpress will probably cost you no more than $50 max

Not surprising.

Tech jobs: Minorities have degrees, but don't get hired

So us black people go to the best Universities and still don't get hired. Look at Stephanie Lampkin. Degree from Stanford and MIT and she still admits she didn't feel wanted in Silicon Valley.

Black Woman Engineer Launches 'Blind' Job Match App To Take Bias Out Of Tech Hiring

I'd have more respect for these arguments if article 1 didn't play fast and loose with percentages and article 2 didn't go to great lengths to inaccurately reflect Stephanie Lampkin's skill-set.

All you have to do is look at her LinkedIn profile: Stephanie Lampkin | LinkedIn

Quote: "...only to be told her background wasn’t “technical enough” for a role in software engineering." “The recruiter told me a sales or marketing job might open up,”

She grabbed a BS in Management Science and Engineering at Stanford. It's great she got into Stanford, but she didn't study computer science or engineering, she studied management. She grabbed an MBA from MIT Sloan (school of business), which again, is tremendous but does not qualify her for a Software Engineering position at a top tech firm (I'm going to guess Apple or Google, probably Apple).

Quote: "She ended up at Microsoft, where she spent five years in a technical role. Still, she wonders about that early rejection, and whether being a young African-American woman hurt her chances."

Yea? :patrice: According to her LinkedIn she was a Technical Account Manager for Microsoft, a job which seems to match her education and skillset.

A lot of these articles are written by highly educated white women who are trying to advance their careers by engaging in sensationalized victim reporting. It's amazing how pro-black y'all claim to be while citing so many of these white feminist produced victim narratives.
