I still don't know how shyt like that makes it anti.

White cats were computer geeks first cause they had the educated parents and the money to buy computers. Why women are underrepresented has to do with several factors. Including tests that shows what boys and girls favor and excel at as kids. All these tech companies have women's and minorities programs, not cause they have to but because they want to. But there's probably more black people studying something for entertainment than stem.

It's all about what you study, no one is discouraging white girls from majoring in computer science, IT, mathematics etc. Just like no one is stopping Indian dudes from studying fashion and merchandising.
My post wasn't meant to say that minorities and women cannot make it in the tech industry. I look at he tech industry like a white college. We can go to white colleges and do well at white colleges, ofcourse

Both of my sisters and my mother work in tech(two in the bay). Black people can definitely make it in tech.

Lets stop with the Minorities and Women talk because there are a TON in Tech, But aint no blacks so stop grouping blacks in because this is how we get screwed.

Most of you guys are missing the point.
There aren't many Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics degree Black people in general.

Most kids who get into computers and the tech field start in their youth, generally through parents. How many Black people do you have parents that did during the 70s, 80s, and 90s? I know one, and her mother was a Doctor who also worked with NASA.

You get Black people to major in any of those fields, you'll see more of us.
It's literally that easy.

cosign all of this...especially the bolded...based off my own experiences...i have a bachelors in computer science..at my graduation only 1 other black person besides myself, a fellow African, walked across that stage for an IT/Math degree...that was kinda crazy to me

I've met black people who have been turned down at interviews with the "not a good fit" reasoning.

The field is dominated by men who were nerds to even cacs, so of course they don't feel comfortable around blacks.

Not too long ago only geeks went in that field for the most part. Thirty years layer they hold all the keys and still have their bias. If you're none threatening as a black guy you can be that token.
White nerds and nerds (non-black) in general...are some of the most racist people I've ever observed/encountered/interacted with.

Look at 4...you know what.

That place is filled to the brim with nerds who have a real deep resentment and hatred towards black men and black people in general.

Maybe because they saw the black alpha males get all the women and even they couldnt get with women in high school. Maybe cause they represent everything they could never be.

Maybe they just have or had an innate fear of black people...the same type to get scared and refuse to pass a black man on the same sidewalk and scurry to the other side of the street.

Only to become internet tough guy on whatevwr website and call us n-words with the er on the end with all of their other nerdy friends who hate black people.

And now they hold the cards in silicon valley...ofcourse they gonna exclude black men and try to exploit black women for their own needs and wants.

I majored in Media and Professional Communications (originally wanted to be a graphic design major until the field changed and went through three schools...etc) cause i wanted to get out of college asap cause I absolutely hated it. I went to a PWI surrounded by stupid frat boy jocks. In a school of 45,000 i had only 2 friends. I resent my college experience highly.

I was making more money DJing at nights anyways.

Ive always felt like employers hated me and disregarded me causw i was too skilled and too talented.

My dad wanted me and my siblings to become doctors...i had no desire to do that. Or go into computer tech even though i was good in it.

Im at the point where I'm just so beyond frustrated and pissed off with how the job market excludes black men even when they're skilled and are highly qualified that im just doing my own thing. I sucked at math and learning all sorts of inteicate facts and codes hurts my head. If i can make money doing something I legit enjoy and other people enjoy I will. Its not worth stressing myself out doing a job I hate to make money.

I Went to an HBCU and Mass Comm was the Running Joke of the school. Always had HUGE graduating classes and I have heard numerous people say things like"bruh you need to major in mass comm its easy", even heard a professor tell a student jokingly "son you need to change your major to mass com because the business school isnt for you".

This is what happens when people are only in college because their Mom made them go, or for the "first gen college student" sob story, mean while immigrants flood HBCUs now with strategic goals and agendas since HBCUs are "easier" to get into than any PWIs and many HBCUs give grants to non black students to increase "diversity". I was on Howards campus last fall and was amazed how many Asian students they had, and even my old school has a ton of Latino students now.

I dont knock nobodies hustle, my thing is we gotta stop sending our kids to school with no plan of action. Maybe things will change since this recent gen has more college grads than any other i the black community so people will now be able to coach their kids.
