Is the fitness industry particularly hostile to black people?

Yeah yeah if you live in Chicago. Or even if I lived anywhere along I-75 from Atlanta down to Tampa that wouldn't be an issue. I think is some places the fitness culture is not welcome in to black males. Now keep in mind that this particular gym the head trainer is a black male but he seems to be somewhat of a token. He's well-known around town and he might have even played in the NFL for just a little bit but I'm not sure about that.

Is more like 20 years of customer service experience. It's not like I've been selling Fords and Hondas for the last 20 years. I've been working in call centers and hardware stores and the such.

But does it not having a personal trainer certification or license leave you open to lawsuits and such?

Thats good but you might be over qualified..

but I don’t see how it would hurt you in membership sales but I’m sure it was for multiple other reasons and MAYBE race (if you saw no other black people working there then yeah...)

None. Had plans on getting some but stopped caring about the gym when i got hurt and stop going so much

Then i had career mindset changes..

but a cert on the side and training on the side would be dope.

I can either hire an adult with 20+ years experience who already has another job, will probably ask for more than minimum wage, and is experienced enough to not be manipulated

I can hire a teen who will work with no complaints for the bare minimum, who I can fire and replace in a heartbeat if need be
