Been seeing it mentioned on 11w camp thread. I’ll think we’ll know for sure by Wednesday. Just my guess.Gleitman just said he’s hearing buzz about Devin Brown now.
Yeah, most of that has been Zach Smith, with many not wanting to take his word for it. Zach will go on an I told you so tour if it ends up being Devin.Been seeing it mentioned on 11w camp thread. I’ll think we’ll know for sure by Wednesday. Just my guess.
Here’s some stuff I had heard night before the scrimmage fwiw:
1. OSU staff really likes Josh Simmons. They feel very good about him and he’s performed well beyond their expectations.
2. Carnell Tate continues to impress and is forcing his way into time
3. Kenyatta Jackson also has been very impressive to the point where he’s going to take snaps away from starters because he’s that good
4. Mike Hall has been the best defensive player in camp. Unblockable.
Didn’t really know where to put some of the things I’ve heard regarding the QB battle but with today’s (lack of) news I wanted to write this up:
-Early on in camp I had heard that McCord had the leg up and was moving closer to being named QB1 as the first scrimmage approached
-After the first scrimmage I was told the battle was neck and neck. Brown had performed very well in the practices leading up to the first scrimmage and played well enough in the scrimmage to keep this thing alive
-over the last week into the second scrimmage everyone I talked to connected to the program still felt that McCord would eventually be named the starter but that both guys were playing well and things were still in a place where neither guy was distinguishing themselves as clear QB1
-as I posted on the board, the night before and immediately following the scrimmage I had heard a lot of buzz that maybe Brown was with a slight edge but I wanted to look into that more
-from what I understand the staff had a meeting following the scrimmage. I’m told the coaches are pretty split on who they’d pick as QB1 which jibes with what Day said in his presser today. Also explains talking to different people who have said one is ahead of the other. I’ve had some people like one guy early then flip to the other and flip back and so on. This thing is legitimately close, it’s not just mediaspeak.
Ewers should have just waited it outGleitman just said he’s hearing buzz about Devin Brown now.
obviously thought he was better than stroud. Glad that entitled mullett went back homeEwers should have just waited it out
or better yet brought in a transfer.
For the record I was hearing Brown definitely had the momentum but I’m told McCord has played really well of late and I’m told he has regained a slight lead. I was one who was skeptical from the jump regarding this thing being as close as they were saying but I truly think it is. I know one source who had McCord then switched to Brown now is back to McCord. I also do think the coach input may have slightly favored Brown at the time of the vote but I am told that was fairly split and some who were Team 33 over the weekend May now be shifting back towards Team 6.
TLDR: this thing is legitimately close as can be with both guys playing well and they’re continuing to let it play out
