Is the black church the GAYEST place on earth?

black women has always been the most homophobic. Oprah Winfrey created the "down low " panic, The idea that gay black men where responsible for HIV /Aids among black women and that straight black men were somehow to blame. I can't think of anything that caused more fear of gays that that. She's never been called out for it tho.

nah this 100% holds true today. Yeah you got some more liberal churches that are open to LGBT, but generally, it's taught that it's a sinful lifestyle. I spent the first near 30 years of my life deep in church and homosexuality being a sin was always a throughline.

See, that’s the thing. I did too, and I still go to church from time to time. The first 25 years of my life were spent where my home churches were in a small country town in NC and Mississippi. These were places that were and are considered “traditional”. I don’t even remember my pastors bringing that up. But, my experience is different so I’m not discounting your experience. I can’t say what you heard. This did not go on at my churches.

Yeah, my experience is with different sizes/types of churches, some were smaller and the last church I attended was a black megachurch in the DMV. The churches I visited at college in NC were mainly smaller southern baptist white ones...in all cases they were def 100% against homosexuality. The black megachurch even had a couple of ministries geared towards folks that were 'struggling' with same-sex attraction.
