Is "Sparkle" a flop?

They needed BIG names to pull it off. With Dream Girls they got Beyonce who is a super star. And I'm not including Hudson. They also got Jamie Foxx who won a Grammy and Eddie Murphy. They even decided against putting Usher in it for fear it would weaken the movie.

Sparkle is nowhere near comparison to Dreamgirls cast. Beyonce in 2006 was one of the biggest stars in the World. Jordin Sparks..is just there I think the DVD sales will be big once the movie goes out the theatre.

Early reviews (ppl who previewed the movie) said it was EXCELLENT
After I heard that from multiple review spots (black reviewers btw) I knew this movie would probably be good.. and hated on by places like say.. rotten tomatoes
Then you'll have the flood gates of people who never intended on ever watching the movie... giving out opinions on how it "should of never came out"

If you read all the pages of this thread, you'd think most of yall seen it and didn't like it

I saw it, thought it was decent at best. To me mike epps kinda stole the show and, to a lower extent, the two sisters (D and Sister) as far as really being drawn in by a character.

The 90 minute runtime (partially due to whitneys death) and the kid friendly rating really hindered the movie in my opnion

I haven't seen it but imo I think they should've scrapped the 1960's theme and said fukk it and went modern and make the girl group or Sparkle into a p*ssycat Dolls type outfit who's trying to make it out of the hood and just took it from there. the "Dreamgirls- old Motown" thing is nice but its been done over and over again. Its like the church flick, it barely raises an eybrow of interest

I'll eventually see this but, I just don't have the interest. And to be perfectly honest, the only reason I've even watched DreamGirls was because Jamie and Eddie were in it
