Is "Sparkle" a flop?

It only cost like $14 million to make so the studio was probably expecting it to make like $15-18 million in the first week and instead it only hit $11 million.
Will still probably end up making a modest profit just for how cheap it was to make.

what were the expectations before she died? if they were high then yes, if not and people made reactionary expectations after Whitney's death then no. her death buzz is gone.

They were high, supposedly she did so well that this movie was supposed to resurrect her career.

Whitney's death buzz should at least pushed the movie further. When she died she had 10 albums in the Billboard 100.Remember everybody was her biggst fan all of a sudden Seriously She has the fans and they knew she was in Sparkle.For some reason the movie isn't doing as well. Plus you would think Jordin Sparks crossover appeal would help.Mike Epps is in the movie too.The pace its going to movie is going to be out of the top 10 by this weekend.
