Is "Sparkle" a flop?

Now hear me out. When Whitney Houston died....they were talking about this movie was being one of the top movies of the summer. I didnt realize the movie was out until I saw a commercial for it then I looked at the results and I see it is #5. What happen?

I cant lie I was hyped for it(the original was dope) but I didnt realize it was coming out Expendables 2 weekend and I havent seen that yet so Imma wait to dl it.

As for the question of it being a flop...how much were people really expecting this to make? Putting this out in the summer was a stupid move even if Whitney hadnt passed and there was legit no buzz behind it outside of a couple random ass trailers. Youd think they woulda put more behind it now that Whitney passed and the fact that youd think peeps would be still trying to push Jordin Sparks.

Thats what im sayin.... people just forget about people over time. When Whitney died all we heard was "Sparkle" ths "Sparkle" that. I had no clue the movie was out this past weekend. Maybe the fact that alot of people arent going back to the movie theatres anymore.

Her death helped her album sales for a month.She had like 3 albums in the top 10 Yet 6 month later her movie is doing bad.People have forgotten.

They were better off putting the movie out in April or May or something.Im surprised at the buzz though.It looks like it can be a good movie.More then likely it will sell alot of dvd's but not movie tickets.

Its a good cast with a movie that cant really be screwed up remake wise and not alot of peeps have really seen the original. Im def checking for it on redbox, downloads or cable.

Shoot they do ,Jordin Sparks movie is currently #8 at the box office with $13.4 million (If you judgin by daily gross)

I dont think they were really high I remember being surprised this was being remade, even more shocked Whitney was playing the mom. Was the release pushed back or sped up? I remember them saying something about this during the Whitney death coverage.

Has anybody seen it? Derek Luke is prob good in it
