Is society promoting Black Women and leaving Black Men behind?

I work in a juvenile detention center which is predominantly Black and Hispanic.


First Deputy Commissioner is a Black Woman, Assistant deputy commissioner is a black woman, we have 2 Operation’s managers and their both black woman, yesterday the Mayor came to visit my facility and the head of his security detail is a Black woman. Majority of the officer’s and Sargents that help run the facility are black women. I work with this older black girl and she’s always talking about how the laws should be harsher and stricter and we should be holding these black teenagers accountable for their actions etc…. I asked is there no black men qualified for these positions? She said if ya wasn’t killing each other and smoking crack then you would be getting these positions

I grew up in those places . Cold thing is , once I reached the state level (CYA) , there was hella bw CO's , Sergeants, Parole Agents, etc that was siding with the mexicans and treating them better than us blacc wards . Because the mexicans was the majority and are the majority in every jail setting in Cali

There was ONE black counselor lady from Inglewood that was hella militant . Every time we fought a mexican , she'd come to our cell and ask if we won in silent. Will never forget her

That's the concern. That these women are put in positions of power and only serve as puppets for white supremacy. These women are doctors, lawyers, teachers, cops, etc. Imagine being gravely ill and in a hospital and your doctor is a divestor. Your life is in her hands.

i bet she is a c00n but im half/half on that . In California , the youth prisons (age 13-25) are closing down this year due to lack of prison population . Youngsters aint doing violent crime like the 90s and early 00s . NYC might be the opposite .

And yeah , Ive met some of the coolest nikkas ever growing up in those places but alot of them nikkas was PAST gone. It's a revolving door since public school system. school to prison pipeline is true asf.

she should know that Cali is the hardest on crime probably and prisons are still overfilled

Now before i start this thread I just want to say I 100% support Black Women and the advancement of Black Women...so this is not meant to be a misogyny laden discussion so I would like all participants to be respectful.

But Black Men...have you noticed Black Women are getting all these looks...these promotions...these jobs...these positions..? Again...congrats to Black Women.

Meanwhile Black Men are slowly but surely being told..."we don't need your services anymore".

Look at how many TV shows and movies just feature Black female leads that would of been reserved for Black men and they're not even having any Black Male representation on these shows.

There's ALWAYS white men and white women on these shows (qe know why)...but now it seems like if they want Black representation theyll choose a Black Woman or a gay Black Man over Straight Black Men?

Whats up with all of these netflix shows where there's a bunch of white people in heteronormative relations and yet the only Black person and non-white person in the cast just happens to be gay?

Or these shows on Netflix peacock peacock or hulu where there are white men in relationships with black women and the black men on these shows are even non existing or they are just looking weak?

Even amongst (younger) groups of Black women on social media... Like they're talking about serving black women and uplifting black women only with no talk of black men.

I always thought it was pragmatism too , until i began to wonder "where is the asian woman being appointed to the supreme court?" And "where is the hispanic(noticeably brown ones) being paired with a white dude for tv commercials?"


There is no real justification for the push specifically for black women, if other women fill the exact same roll. Arguably your hispanic woman would make more sense given their higher population percentages than black women.
