shyt.. you aint wrong. But you cant run a team like that. Dude hasn't even dribbled a ball wearing the Magic logo yet. If they thinkin of ways to keep him already...Even he digs them out of the grave they gotta keep him for the long haul. How exactly do they do that? Even with Dwight and Shaq a finals appearance wasn't enough. Guess they gotta win the whole thing
They've only drafted one legitimate franchise player in the last 20 years, despite loitering in the lottery for over half of that period. Do they now have a superstar talent that can put them back on the map, or will he just be another mound of dirt on top of their casket?
I can agree with all of this. The one positive is, all these kids are young as hell. I like Suggs a lot if he can stay healthy. Cole is best in a Terrence Ross role.. off the bench for instant offense. We're fine defensively and we'll be able to somewhat pick up Banchero on that end. Paolo's got that dog mentality. We haven't had that in Orlando in years.I will admit, I am not a Paolo fan. However, he has a few things that star players need. Supreme confidence and an offensive toolkit (handles, shotmaking, finishing). I just believe he's a one-way player though and offers zero positional versatility on the defensive side.
With that being said, the Magic are a mess and need talent in the worst way. Franz Wagner is the best piece outside of Paolo. Fultz is the best guard (all-around), but Cole and Suggs are... I just don't know. I like Cole for his irrational confidence, but that makes him capable of beiing a chucker. Suggs, I've never been high on because he's not lights out as a shooter. I don't think he handles the ball well enough to be a driver like that. He's just going to end up injured a lot. Isaac can't stay healthy and Okeke would help a lot of teams as a reserve. No one else is worth writing home about.
TLDR: This team has players that would look better in roles on other teams. Paolo will need to be an impact player from day one to make it work. Like poor man's Tatum level good. I hope it works out for them. I still think they need a lot more.
I can't help but see Carmelo in dudes game. Like.. a lot. Gifted offensively and challenged defensively.Long term maybe. He always felt like a blend of Chris Webber mixed with Julius Randle to me.
He could be a star, I mean, everyone in Orlando outside of Cole is defensive minded af. They really don't have anyone I think is a 15ppg scorer in this league long term outside of Wagner and he's more like a 18ppg on a decent team type more than a true plus 15ppg type. Paolo does give you 25ppg vibes long term and elite assists numbers as he's a real elite playmaker like Webber was.
He's probably closest to Dwight more than Shaq prospect wise for the Magic. Where Dwight was elite on D and good on offense. Paolo long term should be elite on offense, and good on D if he's protected defensively.
I would have probably taken Paolo too based on their extremely defense oriented squad. Its gonna take some time. He's just a freshman at the end of the day and most of them ain't game changing shyt but Paolo is special and we saw what Mobley did impact wise as a rook so I won't hold it against him.
Good post. I tend to agree, I hate 4s to a degree don't provide positional versatility and have a tendency to go off of them but Paolo has elite offensive potential. The last PF with elite offensive potential was Dirk.I will admit, I am not a Paolo fan. However, he has a few things that star players need. Supreme confidence and an offensive toolkit (handles, shotmaking, finishing). I just believe he's a one-way player though and offers zero positional versatility on the defensive side.

Melo is a more skillful scorer out of Cuse but Paolo playmaking makes him world's easier to build around. I do believe Paolo can develop into a JC level defender. Good at communicating, in the right positions, decent rim protection skills, and willing but weak on switches and can be attacked in a matchup. Lacks positional versatility and is limited to the 4 exclusively on D.I can't help but see Carmelo in dudes game. Like.. a lot. Gifted offensively and challenged defensively.
I would start Fultz and SuggsWe haven't had someone that can score with the ball in their hands at will. Banchero can.
PG: Cole Anthony - Markelle Fultz
SG: Jalen Suggs - RJ Hampton
SF: Franz Wagner - MAGA Isaac
PF: Paolo Banchero - Chuma Okeke
C: Wendell Carter Jr. - Robin Lopez (If we don't bring Mo Bamba back)
Flip Terrence Ross for extra cap space.
Team salary is $84,821,918 for the 22-23 season. The caps set at $122m and the luxury doesn't kick in till $149m.
I know it wont happen, but man.. if we can bring in a Zach Lavine. Throw his ass the max. That would put Suggs at the point with Levine at the 2. Cole can back up Suggs. We could move on from Fultz.
