Let's not rewrite history. It's trash especially for Nas' standards. But just like any mid/bad Nas joint. He will bless you with a few great songs, even on bad joints. He's just too talented of an artist to give you something with zero jams on it.

album is dope. I get the hate cause the 2 singles were weird and semi trash but there's a lot of dope songs on it

It was the timing of it, a big step down from I Am, like Ziggly mentioned, it didn't really have those leave you in awe verses, though "Last Words" and "Life We Chose" came close. It felt a little sanded down and lacking the edge of what we expected from Nas.

I liked it, but I was also 13 years old.

We gotta stop saying "by Nas standards". No,Nas peers at the time upped the standards which is why they overcame him in popularity. He needed to get better at his craft and evolve. Can I honestly say he "evolved"? Not really, but I think he realized what his niche was. And it wasn't trying to be what became the prototypical commercial new York rapper. So I guess, yeah he did evolve since conformity is where most rappers struggle, fall off and usually never recover.

For a Nas album it's mediocre but it's not a bad album at all. Has some amazing tracks and Last Words is one of his best verses.

Definitely underrated just off the strength muhfukkas used to act like it fukking Eminem-Encore levels of embarrassing trash back in the day…I fukked with it heavy and legit didn’t know it was supposed to be bad until I joined SOHH way back when….shyt is a typical late 90s album from a mainstream east coast rapper

I'll take these seven songs and leave everything else. But honestly, Nasir is Nas' worst album. Nastradamus could have been filled with songs from the I Am... sessions and it would be a classic. With the right direction, it could have been a darker version of I Am... if you had songs like "Blaze a 50" and "Drunk by Myself" on it.
