Compare grapes to peaches

Then ask

if that is the same thing as comparing
Watermelon to Mango

Philly is a large city

It's not comparable to New York.

The only people who do that have likely never been to New York

It is it's own animal..

Boston and New York are compared all the time and Philly is twice as large as Boston. If they can be compared to NYC, Philly can too. People also compare the Bay Area (SF) and Washington DC to New York too and geographically and population wise they’re smaller than Philly. So I don’t understand the argument. For a European comparison, London is roughly New York’s size and population and Barcelona is roughly Philly’s size and population. People compare the two cities all the time in Europe. New York is obviously bigger but it’s more to a city than being big. New York is also dirty, expensive, cramped enough to make you claustrophobic, smelly and impersonal. I spend a week in New York every other year and I’m ready to leave by day 4 or day 5 every time. 98% of people on the Coli would have a better life in Philly than in New York while still having 40% of what they could get in Manhattan. You don’t need to have 1,000 bars and clubs, 1,000 restaurants and 1,000 stores to shop at to have fun in a city. Having 150 of each is good enough. You gonna end up picking a favorite spot anyway and going there over and over.

Thank you

You're basically making my point

They're not the same even though people like to compare them most of those people have never been to New York to understand how vastly different they are and should not be compared

Philly (BYRD GANG)
People from outside the region compare Philly to New York all the time. Yes there different types of cities but they’re incredibly close together compared to most of the major cities in America.

‘Breh nothing can be compared even a inch to NYC breh. It’s a world class city and the best city in America. What city besides Asia (municipalities) has boroughs and connected seamless like NYC.

The city overshadows every city in the country :troll:

Do you live in nyc? I’m in East NY as we speak and I have never heard anyone say that after being here 20+ years....usually Philly is considered and compared to the cities in its tri-state area in south jersey or in Delaware.

I was born and raised in Philly myself (I’ll be there tomorrow for a wedding this weekend)..most people there seem to talk about nyc like it’s another country.

IMO, it’s not a perfect comparison, but I think Baltimore has more in common with Philly than it does NYC the landscape is pretty much the same but Philly has like 3x the people
Maybe you from the burbs of Philly but ain't no most talk about NY like its another country. Stop them lies.

When talkin' about the Midwest, how come y'all never mention Columbus?:dahell:

My roots are in Chicago, but y'all better start showin' Columbus some fukkin' respect. That goes for you Chicago, LA, and NYC brehs:ufdup:
Need a pro team to be relevant. I mean pro football or basketball. Having a pro soccer/hockey team don't count. Plus we need to build something in honor of all the funk and soul music that came out of ohio for the culture. People think it's cacville. Not realizing Ohio Players, George Clinton, Bobby Womack , Bootsy Coolins and all that shyt was coming out of ohio back in the day. We were to funk what New York was to hiphop at one point.

Maaaan, this post is 100% on point. Dayton alone has a lot of history with funk music.

You not understanding what people are saying. NYC doesn't overshadow Philly because they are two different cities breh. They can never be comparable. I think the reason NYC and Philly always gotten along was due to being different from each other but close. The culture always been different. NYC even has different food and gangs which Philly dont even rock gangs.

We know a NYC boul just by looking at them vice versa. Plus people don't understand how small Philly is. Philly is the smallest big city in the country where the top ten cities overshadow Philly by 100s of square miles.

135 square miles same size since the 1800s where Queens alone is 110 square miles... Chicago 224 LA Houston etc...

Yeah, just because they have a different culture doesn't mean that Philadelphia is not overshadow by New York City. New York is the premiere city in America if Philadelphia the closest other City. The gravitational pull New York is way bigger than that of Philadelphia Nationwide.

I agree with this to a certain point. I was just want to point out though that funk got his start in New Orleans. It's just that the premier Funk bands of the 70s even into the 80s came out of Ohio. That is an Undisputed fact.

I understand what you're trying to say but it's very easy to compare cities that are virtually less than a hundred miles from one another.

Let this sink in

lot of scammers up there, pimping/trafficking, its not a good city to settle down in if you not from there

Milwaukee was named the worst major city for African Americans. Terrible schools, excessive policing, high incarceration. I could go on & on

I see what you're saying--but I don't think it really works that way.

I don't think people look at NYC and say "Hey if it weren't for NYC, Philadelphia would be the country's financial, cultural and diversity capital"...anymore than they would say Boston would. I don't think philly would necessarily, automatically just adopt that "gravitational pull" if NYC didn't exist tomorrow.

Philly is not a "mini NYC", the landscape, the people etc is just entirely different. I don't see Philly having the second largest population on the east coast along with being 100 miles from NYC as some sort of qualifier. I honestly couldn't tell you who would be next in line between Philly, Boston, Jersey City or Newark.
