Ive said this all my life. I said it when he fighting..if you was alive and watching you would of possibly said the same. nikkas didnt get in the ring with Mike with any intention of winning. They fought for the payday..to last as long as they could to get their money. Running and holding..until Douglas. Nobody is denying his speed his power. But boxing isnt just about that..its a mental game too. And thats what Mike lacked when going against guys who werent scared of him.
PREACH!!!!!

career wise maybe not but as far as talent or even at their best, I'll take Tyson over anyone including Ali. I think Tyson at his best would beat anyone

Kobe snitched on Shaq
No. Holyfield, Holmes and Lennox all rank higher as his contemporaries

Ali, Jack Johnson, Joe Louis, Marciano, Foreman, Langford all rank higher before him.

Wlad surpassed him by his length of dominance.

I would put Tyson in the bracket of Frazier, Liston, Dempsey, and Vitali, just outside the top 10

nah im good with this thread and argument...there was a similar argument that happened in a different thread - Let us relive this classic: Mike Tyson vs Razor Ruddock 1

there was alot of nonsense and juelzing in that one ..particularly by @Antdrewjosh

Hey i tell no lies. Point one out. TYSON HAD OUT OF THIS WORLD POWER AND SPEED. BUT HE WAS A MENTAL MIDGET. WHEN FACING FIGHTERS WHO WERENT SCARED IF HE DIDNT DROP YOU EARLY HE HAD NO BACK UP GAMEPLAN AND BECAME FRUSTRATED OR GAVE UP. BOXING IS MORE THEN ABOUT HOW FAST YOU ARE OR HOW HARD YOU PUNCH. SMARTS AND HEART MATTER TOO.

Tyson losing cus was one thing but being conned into getting rid of Kevin Rooney really took away a lot. Without Rooney the head movement and combinations sort of stopped, there’s a difference to when he fought razor rudduck and when he fought spinks, tillis etc.
a lot of Tyson is a “what could have been” if cus wasn’t as old as he was, if the people around him hadn’t led him on the path he ended up.

People say “he’s a mental midget” but losing the only people who genuinely wanted to look after you can destroy you. Tyson was someone who should have never made it out of Brownsville. He often said about how cus would fill his mind with supreme confidence that he could power through anytbing with the power of belief. Sadly without key figures like his original financial handler dying, cus dying an Rooney being forced out, that was the end of his prime there. Post prison Tyson was the start of the end. Again the combinations and head movement are not there. Not in the capacity they were

:wtf: Da fukk are you talking about? Tyson's prime is arguably equivalent to Shaq's. The mix of power, speed, technique, and ferocity makes Tyson absolutely legendary under any metric.
casual. Lol . Louis, Ali, Frazier, Foreman,PPatterson, Liston, johnson, schmelling, lennox, wlad, bowe, holufield. Off the top of my head

When i say mental midget I dont mean dumb i mean mentally tough. Able to dig deep and overcome. Mike never showed that. And again you make my point you say mike wasnt the same after prison. No more bobbing and weaving or combos. Ali wasnt the same after his exile. The foot speed he had was gone. But he adjusted. Probably contributed to his post career issues but he adjusted nonetheless. Great fighters find another way.

Someone mentioned Roy Jones. He is another who never adjusted. Roy relied on being athletically more gifted then most fighters. Never really relyied on basic boxing. Even when he was great i always said he need to jab more. He never did and it cost him later as he got older. Once that speed slowed down he had a much harder time. But he did fight other great fighters and won..
