You can't be fukking serious.

There are people out there who will tell you Tyson is the greatest heavyweight of all-time or that he would beat any heavyweight fighter ever (including Ali) despite the fact Tyson never even beat a great/legendary fighter in his prime (the demolition of Michael Spinks is the only argument). He lost to Holyfield twice and lost to Lennox Lewis, who were the other great fighters of his era. His resume doesn't stack up against the greatest.

On his side, unfortunately he went to prison (and Cus died years before) and by the time he came out he clearly wasn't the same guy, and that's when he fought those guys. But it is what it is. You can't be considered the greatest based on what you COULD have done or WOULD have done. Especially when you consider that Ali couldn't fight for years as well and came out and ended up adding to his legacy.

It has to be Joe Louis because of WHERE he's ranked. Most people regard Joe Louis as AT LEAST a top 3 heavyweight, yet he was flat footed, lost to Max Schmelling prior to capturing the belt, and I think pretty much every heavyweight champ after him would've beat his ass...especially if they fought in the styles of their day.

Jack Dempsey...in fact, the most overrated heavyweights EVER are the ones who refused to fight black fighters back in the early 1900's

Guys like Tyson, Marciano, etc aren't even up for debate...

who did he beat that can be considered worthy of praise? berbrick and holmes were not in their primes.
he was like the gift and then was cursed, i would love to put him in my top 8 HW of all time but his losses and lack of great opponents in hsi prime says it all.

The thing about Mike Tyson is this and will always be argued till the day we die..in his prime, he was unmatched. He was a KO artist. You will ALWAYS give a guy like that a chance against ANYONE in history because Tyson did it consistently and after that old man died, he wasn't the same. He was a beast though for a long time. DESTROYING people. That's not overrated. There was a time Mike Tyson was on a WHOLE ANOTHER level compared to Jordan/Montana or anyone you could think of.

not saying he would win against some of the greats in their prime but Lennox wouldn't of beat him definitely and Holyfield won first time cuz he was cheating then the second time was a disqualification cuz holyfield had to go into his cheating mode cuz Tyson was starting to put it on him...

I agree that Tyson should not be listed Top 10 GOAT heavyweights of all time, based solely on who he defeated. but lets not act like Tyson, in his prime, wouldn't have molly wopped damn near everybody on anybodys list within the first few rounds. nikka was devastating. Top notch pugilist skills, speed, quickness and Top 5 knockout punch. Let's not turn this into a Tyson bash thread.
