Totally overlooked fact of life right there. I think that it's really easy to lose sight of the bigger picture, and to not realize exactly what we're passing down to those who look up to us.
I knew a kid when I was growing up whose father was living that life. Breh stayed laced with the newest shyt, and he generally did well in school because that's what his pops told him to do. But as we got older, we all figured out what his father did, and it just kind of hung over him. Other kids would clown him for not being real like his pops was. If we ever kicked it with people that knew his father, we were guaranteed to hear at least one story, told with praise, about how.wild.he was back in the day.
Eventually, he got tired of getting clowned, and started getting involved with the street shyt so he could stop getting clowned. He didn't even really need the money like that. shyt was depressing to see.
But that story plays out pretty often in our community, unfortunately.
