Was listening to the most recent Wrassle Rap episode and host Emilio Sparks and guest Shebrio argued if Kofi deserved a championship over wrestlers who never held the title like Jake the Snake and Mr. Perfect. Sparks argued that past champions and competition weren't scrubs and no matter who held it it always goes back to the top guy (Hogan, Austin). Shebiro argued Kofi was hiding in plain sight and that not everyone should be the champ and brought up Snake and Perfect.

So the question Shebiro asks is: Name a guy from this era who deserves to be champ who has not held the title at some point and name a guy on the same level who never achieved it from the 90's. Does Kofi have more claim to the title than Jake the Snake?

I think it's an interesting convo, would like to see y'alls opinion on it.

Because of the era and the way things were, I could argue that some other stars shoulda held it back then, but they also didn't do title changes as frequently. I think if they did things more fast-paced back in the 80s/early-90s a lot of guys would have had the title. Perfect might have, Jake didn't really need it but he could have gotten it, Piper would have, DiBiase, etc. But at that time, you really didn't have people winning it unless they were headlining Mania or expected to be THE draw for a particular amount of time. As opposed to now, where it can change hands a number of times within a year. Only in recent years have they gone back to giving people long runs with the title.

So I wouldn't say Kofi is more or less deserving, I'd just say that his chances would have probably been fewer 30 years ago because of the way they booked.

@DANJ! pretty much said what I was going to say. The belt didnt change hands often back then so context is completely different from era to era.

Razor not getting the belt during that new generation, early RAW era is a legitimate tragedy though. They was giving it to nikkas like Diesel smh

Them Diesel and Michaels like they were as over as Razor was one of the dumbest booking decisions ever. Look how over Razor was in 95 and 96..get real.

Jake Roberts was bigger than the belt..he was the deadliest heel and was a ultra huge loved face.

Yeah... it seemed to be a good idea at first but that shyt died fast. I wasn't even watching at the time, and one reason was because that MF turned out to be incredibly boring once they turned him face. That Diesel run shoulda ended a good 6 months before it did.

With the WWE being as global as it is to not have a black world champion as they tour the world is putting out white power optics it doesn't help that the last non white champion was Jinder (Roman is half Italian white passing) in a era where the champion doesn't matter because the fan base is so engaged that they give hours of their life to the product

Also knowing that ten years ago Kofi had a chance but was crushed by Orton who shytted in people's bag its just weirder

They rather push 40 year old little whites

He's either in prison, dead, or confined to a wheelchair. He's a man of many gimmicks. :wow: Low key, when I first got here, I thought the Hogan alias was him as well until the real poster accidentally posted under their real name. I remember when the Hogan alias got into a political debate in this forum last year and thinking "Well, there goes that alias. :francis:"

Besides Steiner and Nash, there's really not a lot left on this forum, in general. I kind of miss the @Sin_Cara alias.

gracias i am busy learning my england so no time for post okay okay

Dude is over, the people want it, and he’ll draw. This is only rocket science when we choose to make it so.

In the 80s NONE of those non title holders were at any point more over than the actual champions. Kofi is the most over star in the company right now. We’re splitting atoms to avoid common sense.

Comapred to the 80's/90's, no, but the industry is way different now.

People have been wanting someone from The New Day to get a singles title shot for a minute, even if it wasn't the World title. Kofi being in this position now(keep in mind he's one title away from being a Grand Slam champion) is perfect. It's a stars aligning kind of moment.

I was about to post the same thing. The industry is different now, and winning the title doesn't have the same meaning as it did back in the day. It really changed during the Attitude era when the title was flipping every PPV.
