Is it just me or has MMA/UFC fallen off real hard...

yup cant argue there, when u take an inventory of ufc "stars" in recent history the only name that pops up is jon jones. They can try to push faber but hes hindered by his size, cruz has no star quality.Aldo was already suffering from american xenophobia but now he doesnt even fight with reckless abandonment like he use to so its :manny: for him.Cards are disposed at such a rapid pace there is no proper build for the average fan to become accustomed to headlined fights or the new wave coming up

When they announced that they'd have this many cards, at first i was like :ooh:

But now that we have these influx of injuries and flat out flops, its hard to keep up with the 5 cards a month :skip:

When i see a prospect that i like, i find it hard to remember him because there are so many different events. Even with the oversaturation of the product, they could still keep up with some better marketing.

And another thing change the rules to make it more exciting like Pride. I know that wont happen because of the p*ssy ass athletic commisions, but the common fan can't get into nikkas like GSP, Fitch, Shields laying on guys, dry humping for 5 rounds. Some changes should be made to penalize shyt like that

I feel like MMA was just a fad to a lot of people and it looked like it was this huge growing unstoppable sport that was going to become monsterous but once that buzz fell it looks like it's falling off when in reality its picked up a decent amount of loyal fans at the time and is doing good it's just not the juggernaut it looked like it could become.

Thats never gonna happen. Soccer kicks and head stomps is :snoop: sure it was fun to watch, but itll never get sanctioned.

What they CAN do however, is change the way that the judges score these fights. The judges favor control moreso than work, which is why guys like GSP and Fitch can lay and pray for 5 rounds and win. Some guys are able to keep dudes in their guard and actively work for subs and transitions/sweeps but dont get rewarded for that(something that was rewarded in pride now that i think about it) but favoring wrestlers has zapped the progress in this sport imo

i still dont understand why lesnar was such a draw, he was in a fake sport then started doing the real thing. i think what this indicates is that mma still hasnt crossed over and lost the wwe fans when lesnar quit

The thing with Lesnar was, he was in the E when business was still very good. A lot of fans who stopped watching wrestling over the years got into MMA, so when Lesnar appeared it was huge. Plus a lot of old die hards just wanted to see him get killed. Huge interest was drawn up.So it was a win win situation for UFC at the time.

Diaz silva. :why: Cats are so desperate to see anderson lose they're throwing peopel who dont even deserve to be in the ring with him up there. Diaz might cause the rules of mma to be changed. I dont think his brain would be the same after Anderson was done with him. He cant take anderson down, he cant out strike him but he has a nice chin. :snoop:

GSP is the only option.

Nothing to do with wanting Silva to lose but he has cleaned out the MW division and GSP seems to be ducking him, what else is he going to do? This fight with Nick is something new and fresh, people like Nick Diaz, he is an exciting fighter with a great arsenal. Win or lose one thing is for sure, Nick will bring the fight to Silva

Anderson has said in the past hes not interested in light heavyweight and the only times hes done it was because dana begged him. Dana better get that money up if he wants that fight to happen.

This is interesting because Anderson walks around at IIRC, between 210-220

A lot of middleweights do.

Walk around weight does not equate to training/fighting weight.

I know this but it's interesting that he doesn't want to consider this. The weight cut wouldn't be an issue and it would be a challenge for him since he has already cleaned out MW..but then again it opens up the possibilities of him fighting with his training buddies, Machida and Diet Nog

meh..most fighters cut weight so that they have an atvantage. Maybe he doesnt feel he'd have as much of an atvantage. :yeshrug:

and :laff: @ Diet Nog

That's why I've often wondered why GSP doesn't fight at MW, he is a really big WW but I guess that gives him the advantage over most...however, Silva at 205 would be interesting, there are many wrestlers in that division and that seems to be his weakness

I've wondered about GSP for a long ass time. Like you said, dude is a huge WW. He walks around at around 200lbs if im not mistaken. I'd rather see Silva at 205 because there are other fighters there that would be a better matchup as opposed to him at WW, where GSP is really the only fight that matters.

And a Silva fight with Diaz :D

Yeah GSP cuts quite a bit of weight to fight. I just don't think the GSP/Silva fight will happen..at least not this year or next. After Condit, GSP wants Diaz and DIaz isn't off suspension until Feb 2013

I think if Silva goes to LHW there is a greater chance that he will lose, like I said, the division is full of wrestlers Hashad, Hendo Bones just to name a few, then there are his training buddies who he has vowed never to fight so he will kind of be stuck

I really dont see the big deal about a Diaz/Silva fight. Diaz is cool and all, but dudes antics get him gassed up more than his actual fights.

C/S everything about all the wrestlers at 205, ill add Bader(even though hes a meathead) Phil Davis(717 stand up )
