Yeah he did take it seriously but he was that damn good and reached the biggest heights of the industry. Made a lot of money, is an icon, and didn't have to have constant stays in rehab due to alcoholism and drug addiction. :yeshrug:
Yup, shouldnt even be a knock against him because you supposed to take your profession serious. Not to mention he was born and raised into the industry so it's different how he perceives it.

No. Taking your craft seriously shouldn't be seen as a bad thing. It's why wrestling is where it is today. Too many guys don't take the craft seriously. Their bodies look like crap and they're more worried about getting a pop from the crowd than putting together a good match. Guys like Bret that made it acceptable to watch wrestling. Now it's a joke.

Na fukk that. Bret was leaving and still wanted to be booked to be invincible. This man spent two whole years absolutely burying HBK (the top guy) every chance he got. Buried the company publicly his entire last year in it and still wanted guys to do jobs to him even tho he was leaving for the biggest contract in wrestling at the time. Like others have said, it’s not about taking the business too seriously, it’s about taking himself too seriously

Shawn Michaels was a terrible representative for the company. He was a pretty bad person outside of the ring. Bret saw that and felt that with it being a business that's image heavy, someone like this can't represent the company regardless of how talented he is. Shawn was one of those guys who could have ended up getting killed outside of the ring because of how he carried himself.

Hell naw... I don't even think they ever wrestled outside of the Royal Rumble.

Bret tapped clean to the torture rack in WCW, for the US title I believe.

I was sick over it, I think that was the only time Bret has ever tapped clean on tv before.

The simple fact is that Bret refused to lose to HBK and used the Canada shyt as an excuse. Given his upbringing and the fact his dad ran one of the most iconic territories of all time, nobody more than Bret would know the “go out on your back, looking at the lights” shyt, but all of a sudden when it came to him doing it he chose not to

For a man that took wrestling perhaps more seriously than anyone else and for a man who was all about the old school traditions, he didn’t give a shyt about them when it came to protecting his image :manny:

Nonsense. He gave him the rub at WM 12 and put him over as the next star of the company. All Shawn proceeded to do after that was "lose his smile" anytime Bret was supposed to get something positive out of a match or angle..

Bret did the right thing. Never let anyone disrespect you..
