Tech companies are notorious pump fakers. They literally lie about everything.
:mjlol:

That’s how the vc money keeps pouring in.

Elon been pulling this off his whole career.

Mofo said robot taxis would saturate the market and make Uber obsolete by 2022 :wow:

Funny how that’s crickets.

What is valuable is the data they have.

Also why do you think that SWE would just sit by and watch themselves become obsolete? Most are smart enough to learn new tech/skills to pivot to the next thing. If anything, you should be more worried about jobs like receptionist/admin assistants. Those people will be out of a job long before a SWE.

One of our vendors demoed their latest AI product for us recently. Saying it was next to useless is an understatement.
:pachaha:
Upper management has been hinting at using AI to reduce headcount. But couldn't hide their disappointment.

AI will do that since it's doing some of that already today. a lot of models are being trained on synthetic data(data generated by AI).
People been watching too much Person of Interest. And even Harold Finch had to build The Machine first, before it was able to express it's capabilities. AIs are programs and all programs need external maintenance and direction as to what to build and carry out. That comes from humans, not the AI itself. Humans will ALWAYS be needed when it comes to AI in order for them to function properly.

Not sure I understand the joy some of you get at the THOUGHT of jobs being eliminated.

I think it's the joy in a future where people could have access to tools to make their ideas come to fruition and a potential life that requires less work to survive. think of the advancements we could make with a billion+ AI software engineers. :ohhh:

Prioritize your functional, communication, soft-skills
Also in this environment brehs shouldn’t be living it up.

Save most of your income, invest and look to start businesses.

They’ll be a lot of opportunities for new services and businesses. That’s really what ai doing. Those are understand this are leveraging it to their advantage.

I mean we all read this last week as @bnew @xXMASHERXx @JT-Money

This should let everyone know about what stages ai is at:

The tech isn’t as advanced as people think

eh i wouldn't put tracking small items in a grocery store with vision as the litmus test for AI models being snake oil. it seems like something bound to fail like tesla vision only AI since we use more than once sense when we're driving.

AI is too expensive for most companies to sustain, it will affect jobs for awhile but once AI companies get leverage and sophistication is needed to operate these systems the costs will outweigh the benefits. You're seeing the same thing with Cloud services.
No we are not. My company just moved sht to the cloud. lets take snowflake for example, storage is cheap and that sht is fast as fck. way better than on premise infrastructure.
