Nah. Great actor, but Denzel as Stringer Bell would've been...

Haven't seen Beasts of no Nation, but keep in mind that Idris is an African man. Not really fair to use that as the only litmus test vs. Denzel

You have to see that movie bro. Idris was on some next sh!t in this movie. Trust me no other African could've played it like he did. I still think Denzel performance in Malcolm X was better; but Idris was on some next level stuff with this movie. I had to buy the book afterwards.

Not yet, Denzel to me is the bridge to that Poitier era of Black actors. The films he did with Spike really elevated him, and roles like Rubin Carter and Alonzo Harris, just made his legend bigger. He hasn't had to resort to 'Expendables' type roles like a lot of White cats who were getting busy round the same time as he was. I mean The Equalizer was in that kind of lane, but he didn't have to get with an ensemble to make it succesful (despite what the studio thought of him).

Interesting question though. Between Luther, The Wire, Mandela and even Beasts Of No Nations, Idris has played some really interesting roles.

Kinda makes me want to see what kind of movie Spike could do with Idris:jbhmm:

:mjlol: so you're arguing that he "LOOKS" african so he has a one up on acting abilities? because that dude definitely sounds like a brit if i've ever heard one...
lol its got nothing to do with looks. I'm saying he is CULTURALLY West African via his family and probably his friends and the community he grew up in so he would be more natural as a West African character than Denzel would be. Just like Denzel would probably play a southern american better than Idris even tho Denzel is from New York, because he has had more exposure to it...

:what: again, he's playing AN. AFRICAN. WARLORD.

i'm comparing him to arguably the greatest black leading male actor in hollywood history, this is actually a compliment to his abilities, not some slick self hating racist shyt.

what in the fukk is wrong with you nikkas!?

Willacoochee, Ga
they might be close...its hard to say because Idris is a lot newer and fresher in our minds where Denzel has had ups and downs

both are diverse and can play almost any role given to them.
