Super underrated. One of my all time favorites.
Rhymes were simple but he had an ill flow to make up for it.
Always crushed the features as well. Hev was gonna give you a mean 16.

No doubt he was popular but nobody dared mention his name among the Ice Cubes and Public Enemys. And he wasn’t getting that street love like EPMD. I’m not taking anything away from Heavy D at all becuz he was definitely nice but for every good song he had he had one that was equally corny. Part of the reason he got much placement on shyt back then was due to his cute teddy bear imageBreh in the late 80s early 90s he had 2 #1 billboard soul albums and 2 top 20 billboard albums...the nikka was a heavy hitter in the hip hop world and had a huge following...not just anybody raps with MJ
