one of the few artists who could actually make me feel his music, like having a reall effect on me. Peaceful Journey helped me a lot when at times when i was young
It wasn't mindless most of it was just corny
I didn't even like this song when it was out and I was like 10
I feel you. He was a dope MC. But his peak was at a time when we had conscious acts like Public Enemy, Ice Cube , and A Tribe Called Quest. Dudes like him, Kwame, and Kid N Play were busy rocking polka dots and Gumbys and doing the running man
Heavy D was nice but he spent too much time rhyming over New Jack Swing beats. A lot of his music was mad corny
Plus he made the classic themes for both In Living Color and MADtv.
That song was dopebalance breh..plus he did put out songs like black coffee...that spoke to me just like songs from those other guys too
*loads neg gun*
anyway, title might be correct.
Mr Big Stuff
But I'm not just talking about rap and that's why I said he is underrated. He did a lot of other things also.I don’t think he’s underrated. He had a good run, and I feel he’s appropriately ranked.
I like his music ( one of the few artists I could play in the main living room stereo without hearing moms yell “turn that nasty music off boy!!!”). Let’s face it tho, if Hev were a popular, current artist today the same heads reminiscing over his music would prolly call him a corny, weak simp.
His rhymes were very basic and unchallenging.
to any Heavy D slander. Breh had that big man swag down.
Produced one of the GOAT tracks in the last 20 years
Was a major part of Uptown Records that birthed so many legends in their own right (Jodeci, Mary J, Puff's career)
RIP HEV
