Heavy paved the way for BIG to be successful. He was also very instrumental in the success of other rap groups and the careers of others in Hiphop.

Heavy D was nice but he spent too much time rhyming over New Jack Swing beats. A lot of his music was mad corny

The most underrated, hell nah, he still sold records, carried Uptown records, left his mark among his peers and got that Hollywood money. And put a gang of nikkas on, pete rock Jodeci etc.

I feel you. He was a dope MC. But his peak was at a time when we had conscious acts like Public Enemy, Ice Cube , and A Tribe Called Quest. Dudes like him, Kwame, and Kid N Play were busy rocking polka dots and Gumbys and doing the running man

I feel a lot of rappers from the 90s who weren't known for violent/adult lyrics (Heavy D, Will Smith, LL Cool J) are underrated.
