Do y'all think Parker would say the same about Dennis Rodman? Rodman ain't fit the black stereotype....
Rodman has had to many nikka moments per say
Rockin out and tatted like a rock starr, dating Carmen Electra, dyed hair, married himself, typical crazy white boy jewelry in his face. Rodmans style and behavior was much more far removed from blacks the RG3
Yet Rodman never comes up in this convo....
When has RG3 shied away from the Black athlete tag?No, Rod wouldn't. Because Rodman never shyed away from the Black athlete tag.
When has RG3 shied away from the Black athlete tag?
did you read the interview and feel that way? Some interpret in the interview that Rob responded to that he did.
did you read the interview and feel that way?
FYI, this isnt what Rob Parker was referring too.To me he's saying he doesn't embrace the Black quarterback tag. But he knows people [Black] find inspiration from that. So in that sense, if that inspires them, then he cool with it. So bascally Rob fears that he might be another Tiger Woods doesn't appky with him because he's not saying that for the same reasons as Tiger not embracing Blackness
RG3: "I don't want to be the best black QB I want to be the best QB" | CSN Washington
When has RG3 shied away from the Black athlete tag?
a lot of ignorant people associate deviant acts with blackness. Its so demonic friend.Never has.
Now do you know how Rodman looked in the mid 90s? And how he acted and continued to act? Dude probably smoked meth with the white boys too.
Rodman card don't get pulled cause he did ignorant things? Rodman is that dude!...but how would he be more black than RG3?
FYI, this isnt what Rob Parker was referring too.
Secondly, nah dude wants to be the best QB in the NFL, not just the best black QB. He wants to be an NFL star QB, not an star Black QB.
More importantly dude said he relates to the the black people in the city and wants to give kids motivation, and then says, "it gives them (the kids) the motivation that an African American plays QB, and it important that I succeed for them... and its important for them to say that 'an African American play QB for my washington redskins."
I dont know how you get that he doesnt want to be black, or pull the Tiger Woods shyt unless you are having reading and hearing difficulties. He clearly says it, and has said it many times. Its clear as day you didnt actually listen to what you linked.
No, what's "clear" is that you didn't watch the whole segment of 1st Take and just watched the clips. Other wise, you would understand what I meant by Tiger Woods. I didn't say RG3 said he didn't want to Black. My point is the direct opposite. Rob Parker fear is that he didn't want to known as Black quarterback for similiar reasons as Tiger Woods doesn't want to known as Black or embrace his Blackness. And from the video, it's "clear" that Rob fears are wrong.
“I am [aware] of how race is relevant to [some fans]. I don’t ignore it,” Griffin said Wednesday. “I try not to be defined by it, but I understand different perspectives and how people view different things. So I understand they’re excited their quarterback is an African American. I play with a lot of pride, a lot of character, a lot of heart. So I understand that, and I appreciate them for being fans.”
Griffin also addressed the persistent stereotyping of African American quarterbacks, saying he hopes his passing ability will set him apart.
“They’re always going to try to put you in a box with other African American quarterbacks: [Michael] Vick, [Cam] Newton, Randall Cunningham, Warren Moon,” Griffin said. “But there are guys like… Warren Moon and Doug Williams who really didn’t run that much. I think that’s the negative stereotype when it comes to African American quarterbacks, that [all they do is] run. But those guys threw it around, and I like to think I can throw it around a little bit. And that’s the goal — not to go out and prove anybody wrong, but just to let your talent speak for itself.”
