Is Goodfellas the beSt gangster film ever

Goodfellas is the best in my book. Just overall.

I’ve seen em all too. Godfathers, all of em. Casino. Once upon a time, etc. Repeatedly. The Drop is an outstanding modern gangster film, and I believe it’ll get it’s recognition later and become a cult classic like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and 3 o clock high has. Partly because it’s one of gandolfini’s last movies but it’s that good.

Lansky is another one that’s pretty good. It was an old HBO original movie but it was well done. Gotti is another one and so is Hoffa.

Sharon Stone looked good in that purple lace, but after that I just wanted to choke her to death.

I still haven't seen Casino or any of the godfather movies even though they are saved in my watch list on netflix

CAUSE IT WAS REAL....

that's why i love GODFATHER II..cause it covers all aspects not just crime in the streets

but the relation between the UNDERWORLD and POLITICS..ENTERTAIMENT and the BUSINESS WORLD and the RACIAL ASPECT.....

the MAFIA historically always segregated DRUGS to be sold in the black communities....and saw drug drealing prior to Gotti and crew came thru as being "N1gger and Spic business" while they controlled loan sharking , unions...extortion ...bootlegging and other "respectable activiites"

i wish we had a URBAN FILM which covered the political rammifications involved..AMERICAN GANGSTA didn't really touch on that and it was mostly fabricated...but the story of Frank Lucas plug SGT. SMACK shows a more sinister role of THE GOVERNMENT'S INVOLVEMENT...

a true good movie based on the quartet of RICK ROSS..HARRY O..WATERHEAD BO and RAYFUL EDMUND could showcase that connection even further if it was done right

SO IN THAT ASPECT..GODFATHER is the GREATEST GANGSTER FILM

the storyline ..the actors....is just :ohlord:

Goodfellas was entertaining...but once again didn't hit the mark like GODFATHER 2 does

I seen goodfellas about 100X can watch any scene of that movie and not get tired of it..

Godfather 1/2 right there too.. technically better but GF more enjoyable to me.

Casino came out after GF and used exactly the same recipe since it was made by Scorcese but was slightly less than GF

I always thought Scarface was overrated for that very reason. Aside from Pacinos acting, its not on the same tier overall as the other top gangster flicks.

Casino was my intro to mob gangster films then I worked my way back to Goodfellas and Godfather...nothing beats Casino far as I'm concerned....fav scene is when Nicky tells him to " pull up" in the desert

I need to give it another shot. I saw it after Goodfellas years ago and felt it was an inferior imitation. The narration, especially Pesci's, was weak. One major reason Goodfellas works is because the narration is so strong. Bad narration can really kill a movie.
