Well, I'm already interested...and if you done put your stamp on itWatch it. It’s film history, an example of a production that got way out of fukking control and as a different world showed us, Mammie is an actual person or role in our community worth exploring. Not done well in this movie but do your history on the role of the mammie and it’ll act as a supplement to the movie.
Plus it’s a good movie. Long as hell and but it’s not Ishtar.
I was waiting for someone to post this
I read that supposedly a lot of people threw up theirs arms because he said damn. It's kind at first, but given that period in movies, and this may have featured the first curse word in a movie, I can see it.

FOUR HOURS
How sad was life in 1939 that people had 4 hours to burn watching a movie in a theater during the workweek?
Yep. The gubmint 'stole' all their wealth without compensation. Their wealth was Negro cattle.lol just split it up if you can
but yeah don't let that stop you, it gives a glimpse into their mindset back then (they really thought they were the victims of slavery)
Its a nice exercise in 'this is bullshyt'. Watch it with original Roots for maximum lulz.watch a movie that romanticizes the old south, brehs
Life was very sad in 1939. But it was a GOAT year for movies, if not the GOAT.I gotta ask because this bytch is 4 hours

Yea she won for being the greatest stereotype of all time. Was also humiliated to the fullest with not being able to even go to the premier of the movie and had to be segregated at the awards ceremony. Not to mention the fact that her trophy disappeared from Howard university and the academy refuses to replace it. I would wonder why the academy would even choose her as a winner knowing damn well she'd go thru all that but they love those Slave rolesShe won an Oscar.
yes, I love watching those old movies just see how how they filmed that stuff back then. This along with Ben Hur, Ten Commandments, Oz, etc are great watches.
