I remember having to watch that during class during the civil war unit because our teacher couldn't talk about the confederacy without practically going into a rage:russ:

Shyt took about a week to get through.I'm not a fan for obvious reasons but it had some stuff I did like.Vivien Leigh looked good, that man Rhett was smooth as fukk and the costumes looked cool if you're into that sort of thing:yeshrug:

I had to watch it for Film Study class, but I guess you can watch it just to say you've seen it
& while I can say the film was beautifully made and I do love "love stories" :wow:

it does romanticize antebellum South, lots of racist undertones/overtones and stereotypes, confederate nostalgia, just a feel good story for the South after losing the war

the actual novel came in 2nd place right after the Bible for favorite book in the Midwest/South....that should say enough :mjpls:

...and Scarlett's a dumbass

Well, I'm not one to shy away from old media for racism because I'd rather not be lied to like these crackers weren't racist back then (and still are)....but I dunno about 4 hours of it :patrice:

lol just split it up if you can

but yeah don't let that stop you, it gives a glimpse into their mindset back then (they really thought they were the victims of slavery)

Watch it. It’s film history, an example of a production that got way out of fukking control and as a different world showed us, Mammie is an actual person or role in our community worth exploring. Not done well in this movie but do your history on the role of the mammie and it’ll act as a supplement to the movie.

Plus it’s a good movie. Long as hell and but it’s not Ishtar.
