There shouldn't be a scenario in this world where you have to get rid of your brother. But keep this in mine...those bullets made it's way to your daughter's rooms. That's a real situation.

Fred was modeled after Rosemary Kennedy. Look her up, she was the black sheep of the clan. She was considered stupid and erratic. Joe Kennedy feared she would embarrass the family, so he had her lobotomized. That's as good as being dead. She was a vegetable for 40 years after that, living in an assisted home.
Michael felt guilty about it, but the way they showed it in part 3 was wack. The priest telling Mike "Your suffering is just, but you'll never change" was just lasy writing. They had an opportunity for a good moment there, but dropped the ball.
The case could be made that Mike did him a favor. What kind of life would he lead, I assume the ho left him, and he was obviously cucked heavy the whole time. A more sinister ending to GF2 would be Mike manipulating Fred into willingly letting himself be euthanized.

What was the impact of Sonny introducing his sister to Carlo? What about Sonny being hotheaded and not seeing Barzini making moves? How about Connie and Carlo fighting which led to Sonny and Carlo beefing? How about Tom not being able to temper Sonny? How about Sonny speaking out in the meeting with the Turk? These actions had a lot more impact than Fredo feeding info to Roth. Info that Roth would have gamed out eventually.

Sonnys not even the godfather at those points. Sonny being a hot head was not the problem. They knew they could manilpute Sonny only because Corolene was getting old and Fredo was such a bytch, he wasn't even a factor. The family would fall apart.
The Don knew the problems between Carlo and Connie. They touched on it in the book. They left it alone because of old Italian tradition where they let couples be.
If Fredo was anywhere competent then they wouldn't went after the Family so hard. They went after Sonny because there was no one else left to take over the family. Little did they know the demonic individual waiting was Michael :demon:

Michael adhered to a strict code. You cross him or anyone in the fam, you die period...no ifs ands or buts. That's how he got where he was and he felt that if he gave Fredo a pass that would be a sign of him losing his edge, and ultimately everything he and his father built.

That i understand. If his peope knew it coulda been a sign of weakness and a death sentence. Fredo didnt know they were gonna do that but he shouoda went straight to mike after it happened and he woulda been spared. But he was too stupid and what happened happened.

One thing i never understood about tye movies was tye original don of the neighborhood (i forget his name. The white suit guy the black hand that vito killed) was put in power by "maranzella" who i assumed was the real don of nyc at the time.

I watched the "godfather saga" version which had an HOUR of additinal scenes and that kinda helped explain situations in the movie i didng understand
