didn't Frank Herbert's son or some shyt write the later novels? The Dune series has the unusual quality of being progressively LESS satisfying as it goes on.
Read the first 3 novels (Dune, Dune Messiah, Children of Dune) and then stop there.

can't I just watch the movie. I don't feel like reading the booki like all of them
the first 3 are good in terms of plot and suspense and story arc, i dont know why anybody would say they suk
what makes the books great is the blending of philosophy which gives all the story lines a lot of depth and make you think a lot about humanity and what it means to be human
but after the third book, the story line gets hazy and jumps around a lot, there is a lot of dialogue with few actions, i like it but i can see why a lot of people wouldnt

it's the spicei never read it yet, i just constantly here its the best...
but why do sci-fi buffs consider it the best..
is it a complex novel, is it the way Frank Herbert conveys his message, or was it the first novel to really adapt sci-fi concepts
Hyperion is light years beyond Dune. On The Fall of Hyperion now, and I just don't see how Dune can even compete.
Thats all I can ask. Keep a breh posted.i brought hyperion, its sitting on my desk, ill see about that
Frank Herbert
“Governments, if they endure, always tend increasingly toward aristocratic forms. No government in history has been known to evade this pattern. And as the aristocracy develops, government tends more and more to act exclusively in the interests of the ruling class -- whether that class be hereditary royalty, oligarchs of financial empires, or entrenched bureaucracy.”
Weve spoken about dune before and our opinions lie on the same plane.i brought hyperion, its sitting on my desk, ill see about that

Hyperion is a great book, but never will it betray writing anywhere as good or demonstrate complex thought like herbert did in dune
