Where do you place Henry historically, you don't think he's with any if those names mentioned?
Yes, indeed. Up there with the 2002 Sacramento Kings.Yup and in 2005 SD didn't have Merriman either who was having his best season as a Charger while Peyton was having a ton of difficulties with the base 3-4. That still to me is one of the biggest missed opportunities I've seen for a team going for their first Championship in any sport.
Your shoutout to Tony D, reminds me of how underrated Pittsburgh is as a football factory.I don't know much about OJ's high school career......I know OJ was whooping people ass in high school, but I don't know about how dominant/good he was in football. NFL and College wise he's one of those cats that is low key underrated now because you ain't supposed to really talk about how great he is. If you kept it just to college and NFL he's up there too. The man ran for 2000 yards in 14 games. That alone is fukking wild.
I know Dorsett and Marcus and Henry were at worst the best player in their state, proper football states too, they wasn't playing 6 man football in Kansas or something.
Even the Marlon McCree scapegoat thing is ass.
Marlon McCree definitely gets too much blame in how people think the Chargers surely win if he doesn’t fumble. Their chances to win improve, but it’s not a lock.
There’s a clip of Marty before the game saying to go down when you make the INT at the end of the game rather than running around, and this always gets shown in relation to McCree. But there were 6 and a half minutes left when this play happened. It wasn’t the end of the game.
People act like Marlon McCree was running all over the field and fumbled when he ran for about 3 yards before being stripped. It was more of a great play by Troy Brown than some big screwup by McCree.
I don’t know why Marty chose to go for it on 4th and long rather than kick a FG in the first half.
I'm going with Emmitt.Sure. I was mostly speaking to that video.
If we genuinely consider his entire football career in totality from high school? In terms of production, longevity, and accolades it's only a few RBs up there with him all time if we're talking about dominating on all three levels aka high school, college, and pros. I don't think any RB in the NFL was better than Barry, but if we're objective there's only a few up there with him considering those three things on all of the levels. It's Henry, Dorsett, and Marcus Allen. They were all great out the gate, won Heisman's, and were doing it in the league at 30 or older......maybe you could throw Emmitt's or Peterson's or dikkerson's name in there too, but they ain't win the Heisman or Doak Walker in college......and Barry wasn't really known as that dude in high school from what I read.
If this is how you describe Henry, then how do you give pros to Emmitt?I'm going with Emmitt.
High school - national HS player of the year and 2x state champion in Florida. At a school that never won shyt.
College - had a great career but played for the Gators BEFORE Spurrier came back as HC. Didn't win the Heisman or Natty but if he went to The U or FSU....he probably gets both.
NFL - dude obviously has the regular season stats but he was also the most important player on a 3x-championship squad. Most RBs fade in big games because it's all about QBs vs defenses but Emmitt actually did shyt when it counted. Great pass blocker, receiver, always fell forward, avoided big hits and was an auto TD once you got inside the 20.
Henry had better stats in high school but Emmitt still ran for 8,800 yards and his team actually won. College goes to Henry but he also went to peak Bama. Emmitt went to the Gators in the 80s when they weren't too far above what Iowa State is now. Respectable but not competing for anyone's rings.
Pros....Emmitt.
Derrick Henry = modern day Jim Brown. The advantage Brown had over his peers is what it feels like watching Henry.

Barry started one seasonBarry Sanders was that dude in college when Emmitt was at Florida. Barry won damn near everything before he got drafted.
Barry started one season
Barry is one of the best college RBs ever, but Emmitt Smith was three time first team all SEC and a unanimous first team All American as well.Yep. 88 and he literally won everything you could win as a running back in that season.....You can say I wrote it wrong, but Emmitt's level in college wasn't on the level Barry got to. Emmitt was a darling his freshman year in 87, when Barry was pushing Thurman Thomas out of the door, but Emmitt's next two years weren't half the level of what Barry did in 88.
2600 yards and 37 touchdowns in 12 games. That's enough for me to call him that dude when they were only a year apart in college.
