I know almost everyone loves Adrian Peterson as a player, but Henry is on his heels.
Henry is definitely the best HB other than maybe Adrian Peterson over the past 10-12 years. If you go a little further back, then you can compare him to prime Tomlinson and Faulk.
How can you not love and appreciate Henry?
I'm glad you said this because I'm getting ready to create a thread on directly comparing Henry's run to other All-Timers or maybe Peterson directly...
As I'm sure many of us do, I remember Peterson's prime well. The only separation I see at this point is the obvious, which is longevity. Henry clearly has to produce at an elite level for minimum another half-decade to lap him, but peak-for-peak? I've seen enough, if this is the apex of Henry we get, which at 2000 yards it likely is, he's every bit as gotdamn good as Peak AD and you can make the argument he's better...
I've seen enough and that thread is coming soon...
I love Derrick Henry. Hate to compare but you forced me to. He doesn’t have the wiggle and the lateral explosiveness of AD. He doesn’t and that’s fine. He’s still an All Time great
It's amazing how rapidly dude turned into an All-Timer. Truly in the midst of a GOAT running back run, people gonna at minimum be talking about the last 2+ years of Henry for a long time. His peak is high and I'm currently in the midst of reviewing all the GOATs to see how he compares at peak level, because the obvious caveat is the true greats held this level of play for more than 2.25 seasons. But this peak run he's on is some legend shyt...
I will also say I don't necessarily disagree with your statement either but he's a lot more secure with the ball than Peterson and his ability break massive gains is arguably greater. AD was a home run hitter too so I think thats close but Henry's ability to reel off chunk runs with regularity is impressive...
