Yep, exactly.Basically fame makes you famous not you famous because of being exceptional at anything. Just famous for going viral or having lots of likes/follows. The seeds for this era were planted when Ray J skeeted on an unknown smut and sex tapes went viral. Now you just gotta be a no talent bum with a following to eat.
Idk seems like the energy of “famous” people is shiftingThat tweet is retarded
Kai Cenat is a celebrity, he’s pretty much drake and Josh, Kenan and Kel for the young kids
And how would SZA being on stream even be an example of celebrity culture dying?
People just be on twitter saying anything
That's the give and take of their short path to fame being founded on nothing solid. It can go away fast. When people become used to being influencers and their rise is rapid they can fall off just as quickly or they burn out trying to sustain the hype. Look at Akademiks. He's damn near a legacy act in his lane already. Then there's the skit comedians who often struggle to get into movies or on stage. You can go from being famous to nothing fast and you didn't really have a career so it's not like movie actors doing tv and stage when shyt slow down. Influencers just fall offYep, exactly.
The only thing i'm curious about now is how fleeting it might be.
An old past their prime person with talent can still earn a living touring or playing their old hits, or playing the mentor role to younger stars in new movies like Hopkins in Thor for example.
Not sure what these streamers are going to do to keep themselves relevant to the next generation and working past their primes.
Most people are spineless and don’t have much to live forIdk seems like the energy of “famous” people is shifting
Or maybe is just the fact that the celebs of several black generations is being put up in that summer jam screen, and now we looking all of em in a funny light
Like bill cosby was damn near about to die in prison, that man been popping since the 70s
The energy is definitely different now
Somewhat. Anyone with a phone camera can make it big. The mystique of celebrity is gone now that we have social media and people want more authentic connections instead of the curated celebrity.
Because of this.Somewhat. Anyone with a phone camera can make it big. The mystique of celebrity is gone now that we have social media and people want more authentic connections instead of the curated celebrity.
Which takes away the luster. No social media just made it easier for anyone to become a celebrity.
No, we just gotta accept that to younger people , Kai Cenat is just as famous as a person who wins grammys.
We (millennials) let Kim K into the A list stardom simply for being pretty and having a sex tape. She proved fame was more about engagement than talent. Whoever gets the most attention is the most famous. These streamers are literally professionals at driving "engagement." IE getting attention. Thats all they do.
Celebrity used to be a talent contest that made you popular. now its a popularity contest, that makes you famous.
I remember a few months ago people going after Blake LivelyThe thing is, now more than ever people sees these famous people for what they are and they’re definitely getting knocked down to size.
You see the most famous people getting clowned by an 11 year-old kid on social media in the replies.
Then if they try to dodge overexposure, you see people call them aloof or “trying too hard”.
It’s almost like the grift has been exposed.
Remember, back in the day the court jester was the bottom of the hierarchy. Something happened somewhere along the lines and it got flipped, now we’re seeing it adjust again.
She paid her dues working in hollywood for a long time. All actors and actress are boosted by being attractive.Pam Anderson was a famous celebrity that was known for being pretty. Reality TV wasn’t like it is now, so they put her on TV to basically play herself.
What exactly does that prove? How is that tweet far off base if a Taylor Swift and Beyonce endorsement didn't help kamala? Celebrities don't have control over the masses like they used to. This is not even debatable
