:mjcry:Yeah the shyt stings seriously. Like you have artists like Moonchild and friggin Hiatus Kaiyote reviving the neo soul movement, while our singers still singing the same club tunes.

Priorities are seriously fukked up :ld:
Which is why we all need to be supporting artist like Childish Gambino,Sza,Paak, etc who are still bringing the soul into music.

How did this post even get dapped up ?

Did all the members of the "The Internet" die in a car crash? Did Jessie Boykins III commit suicide ? Did Robert Glasper just never Black Radio ?

Janelle monae ? SZA ? Terrace Martin And so on ?

Hiaus Kaiyote is dope but they didn't revive shyt.

black love, unity, and music
If you want to limit it to Funk and Soul, go ahead, but Paak is not nearly as talented as Bruno.

Bruno simply knows how to make good music from a production, arranging and writing standpoint...and has one of the best voices in the game. His latest album has a funk theme...ok great.

Bruno isn't appropriating anything. He is an actual 100% creator within the art, who has a sense for the history of it. Save that jazz for the Timberlakes and Biebers of the industry, who are fed everything and set up by only top-level producers and mega label backing.

This conversation is stupid really.
fukk outta here. Here. He's lifting entire melodies, cadences, and rhythms from classic RnB acts. Any idiot can see that. Just because you like him doesn't make that fact any less true.

What’s the issue though? He constantly praises the artists and producers who influence him, including last night during his album of the year speech.

A lot of people love shyttin on the Grammys, but then get mad that their favorite artists don’t win the awards.

And a lot of people don’t seem to really understand what cultural appropriation actually is.

He praises black artists cause the more success he gets the’s more guilty he is and he hears the backlash growing because of all his continued success.

He knows what he’s doing, and he knows black people have been copied and imitated and appropriated throughout history in the music industry by nonblacks and most have gotten away with it and turned their backs on the people and the culture

Bruno is the biggest/most successful artist to do it since Elvis probably.

Maybe only Justin Bieber is bigger worldwide but even He wasn’t being called the new MJ or Prince like Bruno is.

I’m a way Bieber was probably seen more “Black” than Bruno.:banderas:

And that’s why he got some sort of a bad reputation :manny:

Deep down Bruno knows he’s not worthy of all the praise he gets

And he knows his success has a lot to do with him being racially ambiguous and safe enough for white fans but still passing as a “soul brother” or at the very least a “Black Puerto Rican”.... who never speaks Spanish or makes Spanish/Caribbean music mind you.:hubie:

All the excuses made in the first post about him playing instruments

which he doesnt

are the reason why music is all fukked up

nikka plays instruments like a 10th grader and dances like shyt too :russ:
he's been doing the same dance since like 2012

He's a great artist and a feel good musician for a cornball
but he's no Weeknd ... they are pretty different, but Bruno Mars aint no generational talent.
Maybe in this bullshyt era, but he's a sammy davis Jr ass nikka
