What’s the issue though? He constantly praises the artists and producers who influence him, including last night during his album of the year speech.
A lot of people love shyttin on the Grammys, but then get mad that their favorite artists don’t win the awards.
And a lot of people don’t seem to really understand what cultural appropriation actually is.
He praises black artists cause the more success he gets the’s more guilty he is and he hears the backlash growing because of all his continued success.
He knows what he’s doing, and he knows black people have been copied and imitated and appropriated throughout history in the music industry by nonblacks and most have gotten away with it and turned their backs on the people and the culture
Bruno is the biggest/most successful artist to do it since Elvis probably.
Maybe only Justin Bieber is bigger worldwide but even He wasn’t being called the new MJ or Prince like Bruno is.
I’m a way Bieber was probably seen more “Black” than Bruno.
And that’s why he got some sort of a bad reputation
Deep down Bruno knows he’s not worthy of all the praise he gets
And he knows his success has a lot to do with him being racially ambiguous and safe enough for white fans but still passing as a “soul brother” or at the very least a “Black Puerto Rican”.... who never speaks Spanish or makes Spanish/Caribbean music mind you.
