Red Hook Summer is probably a movie I have to revisit, but on first viewing I thought it was awful. He forced so many messages into that movie that it became a mess.
That's understandable. I didn't like it as much on my first watch either.

I didn't like Red Hook Summer the first time I saw it, either. It was better after a second viewing.
Same.

Above the fray.
Movie was soooooo fukking good and the fact that Spike was forced to shoot it on shytty cameras to save money was some bullshyt.

It’s probably the most underrated film in his catalogue.

Spike is a great talent, but he has enough money to self finance high production value films.
Skimping and crowd funding projects are decisions that he made.

A thread not about ugly emaciated white bytches? :ohhh:

Yea, to answer your question. Movie is criminally underrated and ahead of its time. The music industry is a perfect example.

:mjlol:It was. He was an Uncle Tom/c00n personified.

His best scene is when he's home, sitting in the dark, being at war with himself for trying to walk the line that he knows is impossible. You can tell he hates himself at that point.
