The problem is I think the first 2/3rds of the film was brilliant and it fizzled out completely in the final act, a lot like Belly.

I love it but he didn’t stick the landing with the ending but I believe it’s a satire so I can give him some leeway with that and didn’t he shoot the whole movie with a handheld camera or something like that?

Really good. Felt like a horror movie the first time I saw it, but I was really young then and not ready for a lot of what was going on. I think the ending works and what Damon was doing works because its purposely silly. A character doing a character doing a character. A lot of layers going on.
Think it would be way more warmly received now, even the way it was shot.

Same with Nate Parker’s Birth of a Nation- even though they tried to Hollywood Shuffle them right off the scene. I wasn’t falling for the bamboozle babble.

At first Damon was the only issue I had with this film. I thought the was clearly overdoing it.

I finally saw/listened to Reginald Hudlin speak and realized thats who the character was "inspired " by
