Ironically, Nas has become the most consistent artist in hip hop history

I had a flashback to around 00/01 where I was reading some magazine that had a joke about Nas...the punchline went something like "...when Nas makes another good album again " or something like that. Some of us remember those days when Nas was shytted on hard for being inconsistent and washed up.



Now fast forward a decade later and out of 10 solo releases (plus a great collab) he arguably has only one album below 3.5/5 on most people's ratings. Not only is that one of the most consistent records in rap history...it is one of the best in music history for a solo artist period. Its funny, who would've thought that ten years ago?

Yup. I said it before, theyve been saying Nas fell off since the 90s but out of all the rappers from the 90s his skills slipped the least...only one close is Common

The fact that the joke was even made, or that you have memories of people shytting on Nas for being inconsistent, proves he's not the most consistent. It doesn't seem like you understand the meaning of the word. You, like others have your head clouded by the release of a great album. All this means is that if Nas were to retire now, he might have one of the greatest "bookend" albums in a rap career, it doesn't make all his other shyt a minimum of 3.5/5.

SD,Hiphop Is Dead,Untitled wuz all duds to me while Distant Relatives wuz just aihght....he has the batting average of LL Cool J to be honest,but becuz he's a better rapper than LL he can always get by lyrically with sum people....not to kick off a war but if we talkin length of careers Jay and E40 who I know y'all don't consider a goat but go to hell nikka,is more consistent....Jay I swear has a system where he drops a great or classic album,then a wack or a ehhh...I think one of his producers stated he does it on purupose and I believe it and probaly know y.

Oh yea and if Nas new album proves anything its that he's better rapping about things goin on in his real life than trying to kick knowledge...kick knowledge but do it sparingly....leave that to other nikkas and just spit about what's going on in your life....that rings true for I think majority of rappers but most are afraid to.

I don't know about the most consistent or diverse but I think Nas' best 150 songs are >>>>> than anyone else's best 150... Not that I made such lists but just of the top of the head (pause)

Nas spits about EVERYTHING. The fact he tries different shyt on every album is exactly why he has the best catalog of all time.
