:ohhh: what was going on in Japan?

Combination of legit hurting girls in the ring, being unapologetic about hurting said girls, and writing a manifesto on modern joshi that alienated almost the entire scene. She was quite the a$$hole when she came on the scene.

Someone asked about the Asuka/Io Shirai heat: Asuka, Io Shirai, and her sister Mio were all pretty tight early in the 2010s (they wrestled together as Triple Tails) and Io had a pretty bad falling out with the other two sometime in 2011 or so. The reasoning has always been fairly murky (ego, freelancing commitments, family strife, etc.), but while the sisters patched things up a couple of years ago, Asuka and Io haven't liked each other since as far as I know.

But I don't keep up with joshi like that, so I may be off base here.

She won the MYC, was in the Royal Rumble, was in the WM battle royal, & is more than likely going to be the one who beats Shayna on her way up for the belt, all in a year plus Kairi missed some time shortly after she got there. They clearly like her to be putting her in the Rumble/WM battle royal but they aren't just shooting her straight to the belt because NXT is a babyface factory right now & Kairi is helping build up the heels from the PC because she's great at working with young, newer people. I mean outside of Shayna who is there as a heel for Kairi to work with if she had the belt right now?

I think we all know there is only one true Joshi star...

Went over Stardoms top star & their top foreign star in 1 tour :wow:

OMG that terrible :mjlol:

WWE ruthless as fukk I love it.:banderas:That's how I aspire to be if I ever run a multi-billion dollar empire. That being said they ain't shyt, hording talent so they won't wrestle anywhere else and don't even use a fraction of the talent they have already.

She's done everything there is to do in Japan and this is the perfect time for her to go to WWE and add to her legacy while she's still in her athletic prime.

As much as I love Kairi, there's no comparison. Kairi is a charismatic workhorse who can hang in-ring with anybody. Io is the best female wrestler of all time. Like, twice as good as Asuka and I'm an Asuka stan. There's zero chance IMO that she's not NXT women's champ shortly after arriving.

More from Double Talk:

She is expected, if she passes medicals, to start in Orlando on or around 7/16, which is the same time frame as several other name wrestlers are scheduled to start, including Keith Lee.

It was a given for the past year that she would go as soon as another offer came, and with her health issue believed to be cleared up, and her generally being considered to be one of the two best woman wrestlers in the world (the other being Meiko Satomura), and her being very pretty by American standards, it was a lock she’d get another chance.

Shirai and Kairi Hojo (Kairi Sane) were both contacted in October 2016 and both went back-and-forth for months on whether to stay or go. Shirai actually made the decision to go first, and even went to Orlando in March for a tryout that was supposed to be kept confidential, but WWE’s web site leaked it out before taking the article down. She didn’t enjoy the tryout, which was as much her trying them out as the opposite, but she was offered a contract and she made the decision to accept in May. In June, her contract was rescinded by the WWE because of the heart issue and she returned to Stardom in August.

On June 30, 2017, she attended the WWE live event at Sumo Hall in Tokyo. During the show, a video played and it was Kairi Sane saying hello to the live fans. In Stardom, Shirai and Kairi Hojo (Sane) were the two top stars in the group, but Shirai was the ace and Hojo was the clear No. 2.

According to someone close to her, she was somewhat devastated watching it. She wasn’t expecting the moment to hit her so hard as she saw it and started thinking that should have been her. She was very hurt emotionally by that moment and became completely focused to do whatever it would take to prove that she was the wrestler who would have been on the video.

Shirai had a very nice place in Tokyo and got rid of it last year when she decided to leave for the U.S. She never got a new place of her own and was living in a shared house so she never put back down roots and was always looking to go to WWE.
