The way I see it, progressives are just trying to get Biden's agenda passed and do what Biden promised - both bills simultaneously. They are more in line with what Biden promised during the campaign than the moderates. This is ironic considering, a year ago, the prevailing thought was that the progressives were going to be a thorn in Biden's side during his presidency.

And we reach 218 votes. BIF Passes with 209 Dems and 10 Republicans.

And with that, progressives give away any leverage they had.

They never really did once it came time to vote. We saw that with the nearly 70 votes in the Senate.

They were able to add some good to the bill.

They had a great play, but the fact that Manchin and Sinema would be unmoved means that they shoulda dug in as well. They chose not to and gave Manchin and Sinema a victory they didn’t deserve.

But as I’ve come to realize, they are all careerists and we have to advocate and organize for things because the people we elect have no backbone.

I felt that way too but after seeing what I have seen from Democrats — there’s no way party leadership wouldn’t blame them and basically fukk them over in the midterms. If BBB is dead then they’re basically accepting monumental primary losses and for a generation of younger voters to tune them out for decades. We will see.
